  1. Yes, I checked with the guy in the car battery shop who replaced the battery and he said he did it. Thanks
  2. Thanks everyone for your help. Put the existing battery on charge overnight but still nothing, so have taken your advice and bought a new battery. That seems to have sorted it, thanks.
  3. The battery must be at least 8 years old. I will go out for a run to see if that solves the problem. Then follow the other steps that you have recommended if that doesn't work. Thank you. Debbie
  4. Hello I have a 2010 A5 Cabriolet which has recently developed a fault with the central locking. When I use the remote key fob, it definitely connects with the car as the lights flash and I can hear a clunk. However, the drivers door does not unlock, and the passenger door sometimes unlocks and sometimes doesn't. This started a couple of weeks ago so I wonder if it could be related to the cold weather and maybe my battery is struggling. Also, I only use the car for very short runs so I suspect the battery doesn't get much of a chance to charge. Does my suspicion that it may be the battery sound likely, or is there another likely fault to be investigated first? Thank you. Debbie

Hi - car was booked in for a service and MOT and during the "pre-MOT" check the garage said it would fail the MOT if they did it - the wording on their report is "rear fog inop but the switch lights up then goes off so would need to investigate the switch". Have since talked to an MOT tester at a local garage who said he wouldn't fail it based on my description above so I guess I'll stay local. Thanks for your help.

Hello I own a 2010 A5 Cabriolet which has just failed the MOT because of fog-lights but I am not sure the MOT tester is correct. He has failed it because he says the rear fog-lights aren't operating correctly, and only come on for a second then turn themselves off. However, this what happens. When the headlights are on then I can switch both front and rear fog-lights on and they stay on. When only side-lights are on, I can switch the front fog-lights on and they stay on, but the rear fog-lights immediately turn themselves off again. When I don't have my headlights on at all, then both front and rear fog-lights immediately turn themselves off again. Is the MOT tester correct and I have a problem, or are they in fact working as intended and the MOT tester is wrong? Thanks
