  1. Nah Martin, I called Audi and they where thier usual helpful selves, just told me there isn't one. But they did tell me that the "mechanics" do have a tool for servicing but that was it. So when filling or topping up, it's a guessing game for the owners. What a fantastic idea. I sure the this company used to be one of the world best car makers.
  2. Thanks for the reply Spartacus , yeah I'm thinking that Audi are my only real choice, especially if I want it to measure the oil right🤣
  3. Back again, This may sound like an obvious question, but does anyone know where I can get a dipstick for my car, A4 B8.5. At the moment I have to check the oil level via the MMI, I don't know if anyone feels the same, but I find it incredibly annoying. The dipstick tube is there but with a removable blank so the "mechanics" can check how much oil they put in when they serviced it, what about the owner. I mean, why get rid of it? Anyway, I've found a couple of different parts numbers online, but the length seems to vary, so I was hoping somebody had already bought one from somewhere and could point me in the right direction. Even the actual length I need would be useful. Thanks Simon
  4. That's very strange unless the previous owner changed the air box for some unknown reason, mine has the rectangular filter. From what I've read the cylinder type is better, so why ? Simon
  5. Hi, Just a quick question, has anyone had the Audi diagram for there car. What I'm having is, the part number for my air filter is incorrect on the Audi diagram. The actual picture is correct but the part number isn't. The picture is a rectangular filter but the part number is a cylindrical filter. And most companies euros, gsf etc show the part the cylindrical filter for my car. Am I on my own in this? Simon
  6. Thanks Steve, I was thinking along the same lines. I really don't understand these car companies, you buy there products and then they think that good customer service is to sting you on the spare parts. Let alone the hourly rate for there, and I say this I very loose terms "mechanics". Don you know, when I called to get a price for the timing belt kit, the parts guy didn't eveen know they sold it as a kit let alone that there is a shelf life on the belt. I mean surly if your going to try and con people out of there money, you should at least know what you're talking about, it's only good practice. I'll climb down off my soap box now. Simon
  7. Thanks for the reply stevey, I actually meant do you think it would create enough pressure to draw the coolant around the system. My mistake, I should have made the clearer, I can see why you would have thought otherwise.
  8. Ok thanks. I have a vacuum pump for draining the oil through the dipstick, do you think this would create enough pressure?
  9. Thanks cliff, yeah like I said was gonna wait for the weather. Just ordered a kit for £ 266 inc. the pump, all genuine Audi parts from the dreaded eBay. Can't believe, well I can really, but, Audi want £288 for the kit WITHOUT the water pump, jokers. As for the pressure washer was just checking that that's not what he was referring to. Was planning on using the hose on jet setting. Just one question, is there any way to vacuum fill at home? I was thinking maybe using the spare tyre like when bleeding the brakes.
  10. Sorry just checked back on this. Thanks for all the advise. Just one more thing, would it be best to just use my standard garden hose with the jet fitting or use a small pressure washer. Plus how do you get all the water out after. I'm thinking just fill the system with coolant and when it runs out the return line it the water should be out right? Gotta change the timing belt in a couple of months (waiting for the better weather) so won't be doing this untill then so all the coolant will be out anyway. Any advise on glow plug removal, hear they can be an absolute b@#*h.
  11. Don't worry just figured out why. Just in case it's stuck in there
  12. I seen something about that on a video, why is that? Never had to change one before ever.
  13. You know what, I did have a little lot around, only had my phone torch at the time as I was at work, but I couldn't see one. But that's not too say there wasn't one and has already split and wondered off in to the system to play havoc. Guess I'll just have too live with it till I get a chance to blast the garden hose through the heater core and see what comes out. Really hope it's not fubared, cause that's a massive job.
  14. Ok, I've just been and checked my expansion tank, and it doesn't say anything about "mit sillikat" what do we reckon the chances are there was still one in there. My mate who first mentioned this bag to me has an A3 14 plate and he had this exact problem
  15. Hi Cliff, Thanks for the info, actually watch that video after Steve's reply. Simon
  16. Hi Steve Funny you mention the silica bag, a friend of mine mentioned that only today. I do a bit of research and give that a go. Thanks Simon
  17. Hi Guys Back again for a little more advise. So I own a 2015 (b8.5) 163 ultra. The problem I'm having, (and please tell me if anybody else is the same) is the heater just does not get hot, at all. Doesn't matter if I just drive to work or drive for two hours, it just gets warmish, and mainly on the passenger side. I've felt the pipes going in and out of the heater core from the engine bay and they are hot, but not uncomfortably so. I do believe that I need to change the blend actuator on the drivers side, but, that still doesn't answer the question as to why it's not getting hot out of the passenger vents or to the screen. I'm contemplating disconnecting the flow and return pipes and flushing the core with my garden hose, good idea? Can't really see how it would hurt. Does anybody else have any suggestions please I'm proper at a loss. Just an after thought and don't know if it is connected in any way, but I'm pretty sure the AC needs regassing as it doesn't blow as cold as I'm sure it should. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions. There really can't be any bad ideas at this point.
  18. Hi everyone, Just a quick question. Does anybody know where I can get a couple of the bolts that secure the EPB to the caliper on an A4 B8. If not does anybody know the size of them. Thanks
  19. Yeah was gonna do this. Don't fancy chasing wire all all around the car. Done that years ago in an old E30, that was ok because they didn't have the speakers in the doors just in the front kick panels and rear shelves. Plus not replacing the whole system like I read some have done, just the speakers that have blown. I actually quite like the sound in our A4.
  20. Thanks for the reply. I shouldn't really be surprised by this, as I actually work for a car manufacturing company and they do everything they can to cut costs. To them it's all about the bottom line, they all say the customer comes first but in reality it's profit first. Customer satisfaction is a secondary thought. Wonder why there is no brand loyalty anymore. I was actually thinking of the aftermarket route when I asked the question, just can't find any info on the speakers like I said.
  21. Yeah know it's illegal but it was either that,or, a god knows how much bill replacing parts that actually where working as the garage I took it to for diagnostics could only narrow it down to either the adblue pump (£800+) or an injector (£600+) and they couldn't even say for deffo it was either one. To be fair I did speak to somebody at Audi and he said he'd never know a pump to fail and was more loto be one of the lines. But needed the car for work, so....went with the map. Car feels great though. Picks up better, smoother the all the gears. Drives like it never has since we had it. It's 10yrs old this year and feels like new. Do like Audi engines just !Removed! expensive to keep on the road.
  22. Hello again lads After a bit of advise again if possible. Rear door mid speakers have blown BOTH sides if you can believe that (blame the missus, she does crank the sound up). Anyway can't find any info on line about them. I know the part number but not to interested in paying Audi prises. So does anybody know anything about the power output and the frequencies and the ohms. Not planning on replacing everything so I would like to just get something that will slot in with the system all ready in the car. Part number for the original is 8K0 035 411 made by some company called ASK Industries in Poland. I always thought we had th B & O system but apparently not they have a "A" suffix Thanks Simon
  23. Yeah done this but the guy recommended remove the adblue. You reckon this is unnecessary then? I don't know just going off what he said. To be fair he also said it won't do anything as the system is no longer working but as a precaution.
  24. Thanks for the reply, I'll give it a go if can't find a drain somewhere
  25. Good morning everyone, It's been a while since I last posted on here. But once again I require the help of the experts. For whatever reason I need to drain my adblue tank. I have looked on line, tried putting a line down the filler neck but it just doesn't feel right. There seems to be something stopping the pipe going down and there are what I can only describe as ridges. Does anybody know if there is a drain plug or do I just persevere with the filler neck and syphon it out. Thanks in advance to any and all who can help Simon Sorry guys should have said car is 2015 A4 2.0tdi 163 ultra.
