The garages were quoting me £1000 to £1200 for a dual mass replacement but there is a chap locally that only does clutches and gave me the option of a single mass conversion along with the clutch all new supplied and fitted for £480.  Honestly I've not noticed any difference with the single mass conversion.  Hope this helps fella.

    Cheers

Just get the feeling mine might need doing at some point as when I put my foot down, with windows open can hear a noise for first few seconds

Hi, just to clarify, the actual jacking point on the chassis looks fine.  Whoever tried to jack it up, put the jack in the wrong place.

I know mate, someone in a hurry by the looks of it, but I have no idea why

Someones has a go while it’s been parked up

Hi you won't need a new sill as if its plastic they just heat it with a hot air gun whilst pushing with something like a screwdriver handle from the other side and it pops out, ABS will always want to go back to the shape it was moulded to, it might need a skim of filler and definitely some paint.

    Steve.

Ok cheers man, I may give it a try if it’s really that simple

    Hello Karl,

Sorry to hear of your sill damage.
This is likely to detract from the car’s value/appeal, and personally, I would be looking to get it rectified as funds allow.
    Kind regards,

    Gareth.
p.s. It won’t cost anything to get a couple of quotes, and if it were mine, I would be having a chat with a couple of the smaller used car dealers in your area. These chaps usually know where to get work done at more reasonable costs.

Is having a new sill a big job to do?

    Thanks for you reply

  5. While sat at work I notice my flask has leaked onto my key fob

I keep it in a little materiel pocket put that was soaked

Is the key a done for now,

I have a spare one at home and will leave this one in the sun to help dry out

    Hello Karl,

Sounds as if the garage has replaced your (previously broken?) original passenger side spring with the wrong (aftermarket?) replacement.
I would be taking my measurements from the driver side wheel centre to under wheel arch - obviously on level ground - and using this as the correct level. You don’t tell us whether the replaced passenger side spring rides higher or lower than the original driver side one.
    Two things when replacing springs:-

Make sure the correct springs are being used particularly if using aftermarket replacements.
Always replace both sides at the same time.

Sounds like a return to the garage! Don’t allow them to just replace the driver side to match the probably- incorrect one they have already fitted. Make sure they replace the one they have fitted with the correct replacement.
    Kind regards,

    Gareth.

The replaced spring on passenger side sits higher than drivers side

  7. The passenger side rear of my Audi is different to the drivers side rear, gotta be a good inch

The garage replaced passenger side coil spring few months back but now I’ve noticed a difference

Ive had a quick look under car but can’t see if drivers side rear spring is snapped, doesn’t sound of feel like it is

    Should both sides be same?

The Multitronic transmission is a CVT type and I believe it has a dual mass flywheel. I think the part itself is about £500.

It kind of seems from you you say is that before realising it was under warranty they were happy to take £1,000 off you without the head mechanic being involved?

    Would seem so

  10. Noticed a slight noise when braking, can’t hear it from inside but if you have windows down and braking can hear a sort of tapping, clipping noise

Now took it to the garage today as it’s under warranty and they say it’s the fly wheel, but do autos have one, though they just had a plate

Garage have said new one fitted about £1000, but didn’t realise it was in warranty still, so have asked me to bring it back next week when their head machinic is in

Just hope if it is that they honer their warranty, if that really is the issue
