  1. Thanks for your help Cliff. The battery is the original, so it's lasted 12 years old. If I leave the ignition on for a bit it does start quicker and I'm not getting any "battery low" sign BUT I am getting the orange "check engine" light staying on on ignition, but going out once started. Could that be hinting at the battery? Its a start/stop car so it will be an AGM battery - but will that need coding to the car at the dealer or is it a DIY job for me?
  2. Hi, I have a 162k mileage 2013 63 plate 1.6 TDI. It's running brilliantly but the only niggle is that it takes a while to start from cold. I leave the ignition on to allow it to "warm up" but the starter motor is going for maybe 6 or 7 seconds until it fires up. There's nothing to say that the battery is on it's way out (it is the original battery) as the starter motor is running fine (not slow or lethargic) and also once started, it's running 100% fine from cold (no rough idle or spluttering or anything), just takes a while to start. If I start it from "warm" maybe 2 hours later - no issues at all, pretty much instant. Anyone know what's up with it? As it's only worth a couple of grand, I really need to leave it and hope that it does not get worse or have a cheap fix. I've had the car from new, and as i said - it's running well and still returning 70mpg from sensible motorway driving! Many thanks for your help Julian
  3. OMG - yes, looks like amazon sent the wrong one but probably my fault!! Thanks for spotting. I'll get the right one ordered! Thanks a lot for your help.
  4. Hi, I'm planning on doing this to save £90 from the dealer as have the tools and a Bosch fuel filter is just £9! The Bosch filter comes with 2 o-ring type seals. A large one and a small one. I know that the large one goes around the lid and must be done, but unsure where the small one goes. Its the size of maybe a 10p. See the image I uploaded. Does anyone know where the small ring should go? I read somewhere where its a part for multiple cars and is not needed on some. The online videos have not used it either, just the large o-ring. The car is a 2013 Audi A3 8V 1.6tdi. Any help would be great!! Thanks a lot Julian
  5. Afternoon All, I have a weird heater issue in 63 reg 1.6 tdi sport with climate control. The dealer wants £100 just to get the laptop out and is trying to suggest its a software update (not convinced), so here's hoping you can help me? * when cold on start up, all 4 vents work, blows cold, but at about 70% air intensity (when the fan is turned to max), so its not blowing as it should. Window demister also blows fairly strong (albeit cold air). * start to drive, engine gets up to temp from cold as usual and stays at normal level - as shown on dash * the cabin is comfortable enough set at 22 degrees on the climate control on the dash with the blower set at about 25% blow speed. You can drive all day and the cabin is plenty warm enough in the cold weather. * However, turn the blower up and centre vents die off pretty much completely, you can hear that the fan motor making a faint whirring noise but its still working and blowing, but faintly now through end vents and centre vents almost nothing. I have tried adjusting vents etc, and nothing. Demister hardly blowing. So I have heat, but things take a turn for the worse when you try and increase the blower. I have read up a bit on here and know that this seems to be a problem. There is the thermostat, heater matrix, filters getting clogged, broken blower motor, and blower motor resistor. I am not an expert but I would have thought the thermostat is ok as the engine gets up to temp. Could it be the resistor? Its weird that the centre vents pack up though when the blower intensity is turned up (after it gets warm) yet the side vents do still work a bit. The centre vents dont struggle as much when cold though. Could anybody help me understand what the problem is please? Huge thanks Julian
