  1. So it's a common thing or does it suggest the dpf needs cleaning? The VW got real bad and the noise became very noticeable as well as one time after driving quite a distance with it like it, pulling over and smoke was coming from behind the engine. Not had that with the Audi but scared it might get worse if it's something I need to look at. Cheers Steve for the response, again 😄
  2. Ok, bit of a long one but it's super weird. This has happened in both a 2006 VW Passat DSG and my 2008 A4 Avant B8. Randomly when driving it's nice and smooth and then something kicks in and changes the the exhaust tone like deeper. The revs then become ever so slightly wobbly, for instance in the B8 doing 30 it suggests shifting into 4th. When this issue kicks in it it suggests I go back down to 3rd and only suggests 4th when up to 33/34mph. When this issue happens, even when the engine is cold, if I pull over and kill the engine the fans are going full pelt. If I then start the engine again, fans stop and problem resolved. No error codes or engine lights. Any ideas or things I can test? My old passat did it lots and it's the reason I got rid of the car as I thought it might be the turbo and the car wasn't really worth it, now I've got this one, same ruddy thing has happened albeit on a couple of times in a month. Cheers David
  3. Thanks Steve, much appreciated. I'll book her in to see if it makes a difference.
  4. Ah thanks Steve, hadn't even crossed my mind it could just be a dry one. Any way to tell which one or lube without much work? Or is it a case of forking out for the garage to take both wheels off etc
  5. Weirdly all tyres have been replaced over the course of the time the drone has been present.
  6. When I get up to 60-70 I get this droning sound for 2 seconds in and out then normal for 2/3s then back again, it's very rhythmic. Happens in and out of gear, clutch in and out. An interesting test means if I turn from one lane to another a bit more than you would normally the drone goes away for one cycle as you switch lanes then as soon as you straighten up it comes back. Been to garage and had ROS bearing replaced and rest of the wheels checked and ok, drone is still there. What else could it be? D
  7. I'm the new owner of the above car, it's a 58 reg but the 2009 model. 2 TDI SE. I've got a couple of queries for the more knowledgeable of you 😄 1) Firstly, I had the concert 3 with the display screen but without the connection in the glovebox. Does anyone know the cheapest way to get Bluetooth working with the factory kit but also keep the track skip controls etc, don't want hands free calling or anything. 2) It appears that the two rear doors lock with central locking but don't unlock from the fob, can't hear actuator on unlock but can on lock. Handle from inside works so not childlock. Checked the setting for single door and it's off. 3) When I get up to 60-70 I get this droning sound for 2 seconds in and out then normal for 2/3s then back again, it's very rhythmic. Happened apparently before and after clutch and flywheel replacement. Doesn't affect any performance. Cheers David
