  1. Hi all, first I want to apologise if this isn’t the right section to post this. I am shopping around for a new car, I have been for a long time now debating between a 1 or 2 series with the b48 or an Audi A3 1.8 TFSI (ea888 gen 3) My girlfriend has recently got an Audi a1 1.2 and I love the way it drives. My first question is, is it safe to remap this engine without anything blowing up. It’s a 2011 model with 80k miles on it. She wants to get it remapped and I’m all for it as long as it’s safe to do so. Second question is regarding the gen 3 1.8 engine on the a3. I have been doing some reading and seen that the DQ200 gearbox is the one I should stay away from because of the dry clutch etc, and go instead with the dq250 which comes only with the Quattro models(I think) which I was going to go with anyways. I am thinking of also remapping the A3 when I get my hands on it. Correct me if I’m wrong in any way by the way! i know that the bmw b48 engine is pretty safe to remap, is this the same case for the ea888 gen 3 with the dq250 gearbox? TLDR: 1) Is it safe to remap the A1 1.2 tfsi? 2) Is it safe to remap the a3 1.8 tfsi dq250 gearbox? 3) is there any general engine issues with the 1.8 and what should I look out for? thanks for your time.
