My car has been making a tapping noise last few weeks as soon as I put my foot on the accelerator particular on low speeds/revs. The noise is coming more of the left hand side of the engine block, it recently had a service and my mechanic sound 3 very very small fragments of metal. Few days ago i have had a yellow coil light flashing, and car went into limp mode couldn’t go above 40mph, however next day no light nothing car felt fine apart from the ticking noise. All my mechanic had on the diagnostic is low fuel pressure, anyone had this issue before will take it to a specialist but seeing my options whilst I wait doesn’t sound like the timing chain, the noise goes once engine is hot (90degrees).
