Oops. I meant to put E10 as that's plain unleaded.

I did discover by accident that if I filled up with E5 (super unleaded) I got more miles. 460 miles I think, was the record.

I just have to work out if the extra miles are worth the extra cost.

I was thinking about this whilst filling up with E5 today. It shows me 575miles when the most I can get out of the car is 380 miles. Why does it lie? Is there a way to squeeze these mythical extra miles out of it?

    Thanks:)

  3. Hi chaps

I'm hoping some of you chaps might have some solutions to my issue.

I have a Ring RTC6000 air compressor that I use to set the tyre pressures. This worked perfectly until I had Advanced TPMS fitted to the car a few months ago. It seems the valve on the air compressor is that little bit too short as when I put air into the tyres and then unscrew it, air leaks out too quickly to complete the unscrewing action resulting in slightly too low tyre pressures - should be 36psi on front and 32psi at rear but when I do this, and then check the Advanced TPMS pressures, they are at 32psi front and 30psi at rear, not what I wanted to see! I've had a look at the TPMS valve stems and compared to a normal tyre valve stem they're quite short which might be the problem.

Has anyone ever come across this issue and if so, was there a solution?

    Thanks,

    Alex

Bought myself one of these, 2.0 (150ps) a few months ago, and I think they're quite nice. It's not a real electric motor like on an hybrid, it's inside the starter motor/alternator and does indeed gives a nice boost. It's at its best during traffic jams.

They've improved on that for 2025+ onwards. It becomes  MHEV plus.

Hmm. I had the rear shocks and coils replaced a few weeks ago. Much better at the rear, but not that much better at the front.

I've played with tyre pressures, lowering them to a smoother ride, but that made little difference to the body roll at the front. Could it be a bad sway bar or something?

    Thanks, Alex

  6. I don't think it has brake sensors and Audi a few months ago relieved me of £2k for doing all the brake discs and brake pads, one replacement hub and one replacement brake calipers as they were unable to get the original ones off without using a blow torch as the someone had over torqued the bolts.

How do your A1 perform in very windy conditions with a perfect suspension system?

Mine sways significantly if there are gusts of heavy winds and I find that it also sways when bigger cars go past me on the motorway under windy conditions. Is that normal?

Car's done 69k miles as of last week.

OK sorry for not following up on this for ages.

I took it to my local VW garage and they refused to touch it and told me to take it to Audi instead.

Replacement was £450-ish, new part was £180. Audi charges £155 A HOUR for labour and they kept the car for two weeks as they found other issues with the braking system which cost another £2k to put right - no thanks to the previous owner who wasn't very careful with it). Not going back there unless absolutely necessary.

  9. eurocarparts sells replacements for about £170. Gawd knows what my friendly local garage will charge. I've just seen a video where someone extracts the wiper motor, disassembles it, pops the gears out of it and puts it in vinegar for a day or so, and it's fixed with some grease.

Has anyone tried that and had positive results?
