  1. The key to this is the Audi service information If your car has the correct PR designation 9G8 (check the sticker on the inside of your handbook) and the part which is faulty is the generator with the number on the attached notice 4N0 903028, that is clearly within the scope of the extended warranty, so Audi should cover the cost of the replacement (improved generator with a different part number).

  4. Just for information, I live in Surrey but my 2019 A7 broke down in the South of France last year. The car was recovered to a French dealer by Audi Assistance. That dealer diagnosed the problem. I and my passengers had already returned to England as it was not clear how long recovery and repairs would take. The Audi Executive Office was responsive. Although they had no means of paying a French dealer direct, the Office did agree to reimburse me under the extended warranty if I paid the dealer first, which I did. I was reimbursed within a couple of days of sending in the paperwork. Audi Assistance arranged and paid for travel back to France to collect my car. I was quite impressed by the French dealer given my language limitations. Their labour hourly rates are significantly lower than England. Apart from the obvious dangers inherent in a complete electrical breakdown on a French motorway in pouring rain and the general disruption and inconvenience caused by a breakdown abroad, after a few hiccups, Audi Assistance proved its value and the Executive Office did what was required.
  5. When this problem first came to light, there was a serious shortage of available replacement parts. Some owners waited weeks. A recall, however desirable that might be for several reasons, would have put thousands off the road for weeks.
  6. I think you need a clear diagnosis from an Audi dealer that it is the BSG with the correct reference that requires replacing and that your car’s PR code is 9G8. if that is the case, the extended warranty is engaged and Audi should fix it. in my case, the failure occurred in France but I qualified under the extended warranty. I paid the French Audi dealer and was reimbursed.

  10. Thanks. Does anyone know how to fix this intermittent problem?
  11. I have this too but only in winter and it is intermittent. Cycling the open/close switch works. Does WD40 work.
  12. As posted earlier, my repair was completed in France. A new starter generator Part No. 4N1903028 (which appears to be a newer version of ) was fitted under service ID procedure 27261943 plus ancillaries and coding. I have driven the car back from France and it seems fine. Audi UK agreed that, if I paid the Audi dealer in France, they would reimburse me which they did within less than a week. Whether your car is covered by the extended warranty is a matter of diagnosis. If you look at the Audi bulletins on this forum, the extended warranty covers cars with PR number 9G8 (look on the sticker on the inside page of your handbook). 13. I suspect it is a question of diagnostics. Most people who have had a failure have had a sequence of yellow warning lights followed by red ‘stop immediately’ warnings.
  14. By way of update, the repairs to my A7 55TFSI in France were completed (replacement of starter generator with part no. 4N1903028 and ancilliaries) 2 weeks ago and I travelled to France to drive my car back last week (arranged by Audi Assistance). I was not able to travel sooner because of other commitments. Everything seems fine with the car. Audi Executive Office had agreed to reimburse the repair cost if I paid first which I did. I sent off the paperwork about a week ago and the Audi Executive Office called yesterday to say payment was in hand. I received a bank transfer today via my local UK dealer. All in all, apart from the dangers inherent in complete electrical failure on a French autoroute in heavy rain and the general frustration of it all, I think it was a reasonable outcome. If I did not already have a service plan to cover my imminent 40,000 service, I would have had the service done in France too. The dealer labour rates seem to be about 50% of UK rates.
  15. I have joined the club. My UK purchased A7 55 tfsi MY 2019 had a complete electrical failure on a French motorway on Monday. BSG failure diagnosed by French Audi dealer who was unable (or unwilling) to process warranty claim with Audi France. After some discussion, Audi UK have confirmed that it will reimburse the repair cost under the 7 year extended warranty. French labour rates are much cheaper than at UK Audi dealers.
