Door Control Module
And, by the way, all the Forum responses including Clifford's final query ended up in my junk folder, which is why I hadn't responded. "Post and Run" is a bit overdramatic!

Door Control Module
Well nobody has responded to my inquiry about part numbers for the control module, so didn't think a response was needed, and I think the moderators response is a bit OTT. FYI an auto electrician suggested that the problem isn't the modules but the latch mechanism itself. He tells me that there is a nylon cam/lever which unlocks the latch which breaks off. I've bought new latches but had a problem removing the N/S one: its secured by two bolts which I took to be Torx 40, but the teeth stripped and on closer inspection I discover that its a 12 pointed socket, rather than a 6 pointed Torx. Don't know what these are called but I've ordered a set & will have a go at the OS lock. If I'm successful then I'll go back to the N/S one, the bolt will have to be drilled out, or split and cut off.

Loving my A6 C6 Allroad
After years of avoiding automatics because I thought they were slow and sluggish I was forced by knee problems into buying one, and bought a cheap A4 Multi-tronic, expecting to hate it, but found it was really good, so I decided to upgrade. I've had an A6 C5 Allroad 3.0 Tdi manual on coils in the past, which I loved, so I thought I'd try another, but couldn't find one locally when I needed it, so bought a Volvo XC70 with the D5 & Geartronic as an alternative. Big mistake. Its a barge on wheels. Horrible to drive, slow and drinks fuel, so when I saw this 2.7 Tdi A6 C6 Allroad Avant with Tiptronic I jumped at it, and apart from minor teething problems with the electrics (see other posts) I absolutely love it. Not sure why you'd want quite so many ways to change gear, but hey: its smooth and quick. What's not to like? Anyone want an XC70?

Door Control Module
When I bought the car the driver's door would unlock remotely, but not the passenger door. After a few days the driver's door packed up too. I changed the passenger door module for one from a breaker, which worked half-a-dozen times, then stopped. I exchanged it for another, which didn't work at all. I swapped the driver's door one, and this didn't work either, so I exchanged it, and again the replacement didn't work. Also the key operated window lift which has worked up to now stopped working! I'm wondering if I've been unlucky with 2nd hand units, whether I've been given the wrong parts, or whether there's something else going on. As far as I can tell the door control modules are all part number 4F095979 and then 2 for NSF, 3 for OSF, and 4/5 for the rear doors, but people list them differently. Also there's a range of suffix letters, I've come across P, E, T & C so far. Can anyone tell me what part numbers I should be looking for, and suggest any explanation for my lack of success? On the +ve side, I'm getting pretty slick at taking the door cards off! Thanks

Indicators playing tricks
2007 A6 C6 Avant Allroad When I indicate Left all is well. When I indicate Right: The Right Indicator and warning light flash, then the Left Indicator and warning light flash And so on, back and forth. Must be very confusing for the guy behind! Sometimes the Right indicator stops, unless I hold the stalk over. Any suggestions please?

Which model have I got please?
Ha! I changed the ATF last week - bit of a faff having to pump it in from the bottom but the hesitancy under acceleration has gone. Also changed the EGR valve which was absolutely full of crud. Had to vacuum the inlet manifold after sugar lump size lump of carbon dislodged by my fingers fell into it! Running very sweetly now.

Which model have I got please?
I needed a cheap automatic to get me through knee surgery, so bought a 2004 A4 B6 saloon and am very pleasantly surprised by it. Its surprisingly quick and the handling is remarkably good. My regular car is a chipped 2010 Skoda Superb 170 bhp 4x4, but amazingly the A4 feels quicker and more sure footed. I know I've got the 1.9Tdi, and I think its the Multi-tronic box, but beyond that I don't know what I've got: I assume its the 130 bhp model, (but how would I know?), and I gather there was a Sport version (but how would I know?). It wasn't quite a "One lady owner" car, but nothing to suggest its been tweaked. The VIN is WAUZZZ8EX5A078334. Any thoughts please? Are these a seriously underrated car, or have I got something a bit out of the ordinary? Thanks
