  1. Hi there, Steve500 again. James is probably correct, if the door is locked shut you don't have access to the x2 self tappers in the door jambs. Just to conclude my own problem (drivers door opens OK from inside, but does not release from outside). I bought a full new drivers door locking mechanism and took it to my local mechanic as I could not undo the x2 45mm 12 star screws in door-face. He whipped off the door card, window glass and simply adjusted the linkage from outside handle to lock! Bit of a struggle but he charged me only for 1/2 hour labour. Also please all ignore the youtube demonstration of removal of door handle in 1min 36sec with a piece of bent wire - the guy in fact only removes the plastic trim from the door handle! I know, I tried it. (New o/s drivers door lock for sale, bnib, cheap). Happy tinkering, Steve500
  2. I am a new member so suppose this problem has been solved by now. Door cards remove easily - only 2 self tappers and lift complete unit inc handle/arm-rest etc. Internal handle connects by cable front to back which could have come dislodged? Cheers, steve500
  3. New member - did you fix this? Happened to both my front windows, the cables corrode through at the bottom unfortunately. I bought an Audi kit for the first one for about £130. You remove door card (2 self tappers) and the complete window frame - honest! Fitting the cable kit is fiddly but quite do-able, preferably over a couple of days and in a covered area or garage. Second one was much easier of course, bought a cheap kit off ebay for around £30, quite serviceable, if even fiddlier to fit. Grease everything possible, this seems not to be done at factory. You need 4 additional large allen screws (forgotten size) which do not come with the kit. You can probably get the size from a parts fische. Cheers, steve500
