  1. HI!!! thought i'd report on the outcome in case it can help others.......I checked the speed sensors with a obd and after i sussed how to do it they all came out OK,so that was off the list,i bought a new after market steering angle sensor and fitted it ....while doing so i noticed that the Module thing had dropped a little and had obviously disconnected a few things slightly, this occured as when i first got the car after a few weeks the key could not be removed and i had to drill the steering lock out, when i put the lot together i for some reason didnt put the little screw back that holds the module in place (mustve lost it???) i held it in place with really good tape (this was at least 2 years ago),i'm assuming that with the weather lately the tape got sticky and melted a bit and with the amount of road humps round my way the Module dropped down????....it is possible that the angle sensor was ok but just disconnected?? ....all the faults are gone now and the car seems to be working ok with no warning lights on the dash.....i guess i will never know as i aint gonna check as it was a bit of a pain in the ar5e to do. it all makes sense now with te wipers/indicaters not working which was a bit wierd .....anyway cheers to those who gave advice......by the way.....my obd skills need to get better as i removed the tool and left the key in the ignition ON overnight and fried the battery☹️....it was really swollen once i sussed ...£50 down the drain....lucky i didnt fry the electrics and lucky the battery didnt explode....i noticed the previous owner didnt remove the 2 plugs from the battery that you are supposed to do when you recieve it??? maybe ive been driving a ticking timebomb??? i didnt even know batteries had these plugs??? ....cheers again all
  2. all seems to point to steering angle sensor but could this be set off by a faulty wheel sensor??....i can hear a slight grating as i drive between houses....drivers side not sure front of back??.....my airbag light doesnt seem to want to go out ..it goes out for a second when my mate tried turning it off with his magic machine ....i dont wanna buy a steering sensor if i dont need one but i might have to
  3. mate did a scan and this is what came up ....i did repair my glovebox the other day and turned the passenger airbag off and disconnected the wires .....maybe thats summat to do with the problem???? 1,Audi,,2008,WAUZZZ8P28A173279,979860329838,1749829495,-1.pdf 2.pdf
  4. I gutted my DPF after many attempts to clean it with all sorts of chemicals/soap etc etc i now have a smokey smell and the mrs hates it,wasnt sure wether it was all that crap i pumped thru it?? or that its because it hasnt got a DPF now??? can you describe the smell??
  5. I took mine out opened it up and gutted it and welded it back up (it CAN be done without dropping the subframe) it was a bit tight ....i also blocked off the EGR and had to pay £250 to have a remap to turn off the DPF light (delete) it has gone trhu 2 mots since but was a bit smokey ....there is an american on utube who showed it being done but he did replace it with a straight pipe ,which you cant do in this country unfortunately.
  6. just noticed i have a esp warning light telling me to check the manual???
  7. cheers for reply....i checked the battery and read 12.9 .....when running 14.9 so all as should be i guess?? just gonna disconnect and leave for half hour to see if that resets summat.
  8. Also lights not able to go full beam and indicators not working, also wipers not working???? just praising how the car was performing yesterday....put the kybosh on it i feel.........does anyone know a possible reason?? i have checked the alternator and seems fine.
  9. A friend of mine had a tapping noise coming from his engine(Zafira petrol) he tried everything and was about to strip the engine down and he removed the spark plugs and was fiddling about with one and he found that it was loose and the top of it moved up and down ....this was the cause of the tapping noise....i know yours is a diesel but it does all point to the glow plugs . another experience i had was a ticking noise on a Focus i owned, this turned out to be serious.....it was a little end bearing that had gone......i replaced a conrod/bearing and it was ok ....i sold it not long after as it never seemed the same.....good luck....hope its the glow plugs 👍
  10. Hi.....not a newbie to this forum but forgot my sign in sh#t 😁 Question....... has anyone actually replaced their headlight bulbs with 100w ones?? i have stuck one in my daughters scirrocco as a temp thing and am gonna have a swap around putting a 55w out of my a3 into her car and sticking the 100w (along with another of course) into my car.....i keep reading about it will pop ya fuses and burn ya wires out etc etc .....is this actually true?? and has anyone replaced them and had no problems?? daughters been driving for a few days now and there aint been a problem....i am changing them over at the weekend .....so....??????? anyone?? cheers
