Injector clamp bolts
Hi, has anyone had to repair a stripped thread on an injector clamp bolt hole on a 3.0 TDI. If so, did you use a Helicoil or Time-Sert insert? I've read that Time-Sert is the way to go as Helicoil can fail in these situations and I don't want a costly strip down again in the future. My repair guy is proposing to use Helicoil but I'm not sure. Thanks

23X6 recall
After receiving the 'horror stories' from this and other forums, I've decided to take the advice and stay away from the dealer. Cancelled the complimentary health check and will book another check at an Audi independent. Thanks

23X6 recall
That's one opinion I guess. While I realise that general wear and tear, e.g., brakes etc aren't covered by warranty, plenty other stuff is. Also, they'll give an indication of the life left in things like the brakes. There's only so much you can check when buying a car without the aid of a lift. In my experience, when you take a car for a health check, the dealer will be looking for anything they can try to charge you for, should you be stupid enough to leave it with them! It's also a good check of the MOT that's been carried out on the day I purchased the car.

EGR Problems
Thanks to everyone. I gave up and sold the 2010 Avant and bought a 2014 A6 Avant 3.0 V6 BiTDI instead.

23X6 recall
I've just bought a 2014 A6 Avant 3.0 V6 BiTDI. It's the 8 speed Tiptronic and doesn't have AdBlue. I'm taking it to my local Audi dealer for a complimentary health check, to see if there's anything seriously wrong with it, before the 3 month warranty expires. They tell me that it's due a "recall" and this is detailed as the '23X6 workshop action software update' - to do with the 'dieselgate scandal' I believe. Funny thing is our government recall check website and Audi.co.uk website both say there's no recall of any sort for my car. 1. Has anybody had this done and, if so, has it affected the performance of the car in any way? 2. Do I have to have the update done? 3. If I decline the update, is there any way I can tell whether they've done it without my permission - that is check before it goes in and compare to after I get it back? Thanks.

EGR Problems
Hi, thanks for the reply. I was thinking sensor too BUT what sensor, located where? I've not been able to find out what sensor is sending the insufficient flow fault message. The EGR valve was a like for like replacement PIERBURG 7.02132.07.0 from Autodoc. I also replaced the solenoid with new off Ebay. I'm told by the geeks at Ross-Tech (VCDS people) that the check engine light can go off by itself after a few driving cycles. However, the latest twist in the saga is that the light came on 14th June, then went off by itself later that week, then came back on yesterday (23rd June) but when I scanned the car, the report said the fault that brought the light on was the one on 14th June, nothing for 23rd June. It would be great if someone could tell me which sensor is reporting the insufficient flow.

EGR Problems
Hi, I have an intermittent EGR insufficient flow fault occurring on my 3.0TDI Avant, bringing on the check engine light. Been happening on and off (and by off, I mean often seemingly clearing itself and the check engine light) since 2022. No loss of power or any other symptoms. Decided to sort it last month by having a TerraClean carried out at my local approved centre. Two cleaning attempts (including cleaning the EGR cooler off the car) AND a new EGR valve and vacuum solenoid valve later, I'm still getting intermittent EGR insufficient flow faults occurring AND the check engine light comes on and goes off without clearing the fault. Anyone experienced this before and have any idea what's causing this? Thanks Chris

Intercooler Hoses
Hi, all you fellow 3.0 TDI owners! Has anyone any experience of split intercooler pressure hoses? I have a whistle under hard acceleration which I suspect is due to a split hose somewhere (see below diagram). Before stripping half the car down to get at the many hoses in the system, in your experience, is it more likely to be one particular hose than any other? Ever hopeful! TIA
