Q5 50 TFSIe intelligent mode not working
Hi. Had a long chat with the master technician. He said there were no error faults. Had no explanation for it. Drove out of the dealership and it occurred again. 11mpg over five miles. So drive back to dealership and took the technician out in the car. After a mile of driving, it started working, cutting off the petrol engine like it should. So none the wiser. He had no answers and had not seen this before. Dropped him off, then half way home after 4 miles of driving, and it’s not working again! It’s charging the battery in intelligent mode, and staying fully in petrol at very poor mpg. I’m going to write to the dealership head of operations because I cannot keep this car for another 21 months like this. I’ll repost an update when I can.

Q5 50 TFSIe intelligent mode not working
Hi, Thanks for your post, I will mention it when in Audi next week. Me too, I am frustrated with it, and not enjoying it, as I should be for £56,000! I won’t be choosing a plug in hybrid again, that’s for sure!

Q5 50 TFSIe intelligent mode not working
Hi all, Since my last post in June, the issue has reoccurred. In intelligent mode, the petrol engine does not shut off. The electric range in fact increases and the car does not alternate between ICE and electric. I am experiencing 15mpg at best on my usual ten mile journeys. (With the battery depleted I usually get 25 - 30 in similar temperatures). I am booked in again at Oldham Audi on 22nd Jan, so I will provide an update post. Andy

Q5 50 TFSIe intelligent mode not working
Hi MiguelP, I would state to the dealer that it must be rectified before your extended warranty expires. Mine must have been an electrical ‘glitch’ because the only thing Audi Oldham did was to plug it into the diagnostic. Hope you get it resolved. Regards, Andrew

Q5 50 TFSIe intelligent mode not working
Hi all. Really sorry I forgot to post. This is how it went with Audi, Oldham. The technician told me that the diagnostic found no faults and that the issue was that I had deselected intelligent coasting in the MMI. He told me that he activated it again, drove up and down the motorway, and all is well. So…when I went to collect the car, and although I told him that the intelligent coasting mode had been switched off since new, he was adamant that this is what the issue was. Anyway, since being plugged in the diagnostic, and intelligent coasting off again, it’s back to normal !? I think a reset of the ‘brain’ of the car must have been done, but I wasn’t told that. in conclusion, when the electric charge is depleted, it shuts off the petrol engine into regen electric just as it should. The complete opposite to the issue I had, which was that the car never shut off the petrol engine, and instead decided to charge the battery, which resulted in sub 20 mpg for two weeks of driving. Again, sorry for this very late post and that I can’t be more helpful. Andrew

Q5 50 TFSIe intelligent mode not working
Thanks, Steve, I’m hopeful that they do find a fault when they plug it in, as there are no fault messages in the MMI, which I find strange. I’ll update post following Monday’s visit to Audi.

Q5 50 TFSIe intelligent mode not working
Hi. I’m new to the forum and wondered if anybody has had the same issue. It’s a 23 build year and recently, when in intelligent mode, the car doesn’t shut off the petrol engine, which is resulting in sub 20mpg. It’s intermittent but for sure, it’s definitely not right. It’s booked in with Audi in a few days. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
