Hi all!!! hope we are all well? my little backstory...Got an imported A1, love it! i'm looking to update the satnav as its a 2014 plate. Has anyone had experience with doing this? I have done my research (thanks to a little ChatGTP assistance) and i've worked out my car's MMI Media firmware is HN+_JP_AU210_P0292. So, i know i can do an update but im now just struggling to figure out what sort of one i need. i just want to update my maps or install carplay, thats all i really want to do as the rest of my firmware is fine. I can get all eu radio stations and everything is in English, i simply cant use the satnav as it says " No ETC card". am i able to purchase the firmware/SD cards with the EU maps from ebay? any recommendations? dont want to buy something and then find out its not really compatible as ive just completely misunderstood. thanks for reading!

this is exactly what has happened to me!!! From my convo with DVSA this is due to the veh being automatically registered as PLG veh as standard because its an import so apparently there is no way around this one.

the veh had a v5 when i purchased it and it all got sent off i just stupidly didnt know what to look out for on the v5 before buying. info on my v5 is very basic compared to my other car, is missing the euro status, emmisions dets and i dont have any copies of the import paperwork as i was informed it had all been sent of to DVLA to register the car. lesson learned to research what sort of paperwork to expect to have if i ever buy and import again. I dont mind the leg work to sort it, its a learning curve, but it is somewhat frustrating that its not been sorted by the garage prior and im having to correct bits. Im a tad annoyed at VW here not being able to guide me a bit better of contacting their Japanese counterparts however as this wont be the first time this sort of thing has been asked of them so why cant they assist in providing an email address for Japan to get the details??? too difficult box maybe....

Hi hi, so i have had VW get back to me already, they are saying thy cant help me as its not a europe veh but an import...despite me saying that from the off set and i need to contact VW in Japan for the import paperwork... you go to their website- all in english- follow to the enquire form and then its all in Japanese and no way to translate so ive got no !Removed! clue where to go from here. essentially i just need to obtain paperwork from someone on what euro bracket it sits in for this to all get sorted but DVLA/ DVSA only accept paperwork from the import company. (you would havethought this would have all been supplied hen the veh was imported and an IVA done????) im tempted ot look at jst paying for an IVA to make it easier but i then argue in my head as to why i should be doing all this when it should have been done already!! !Removed! frustrating and feel like im going in circles a tad. sorry rant over.

Do you remember how long it took for them to get back to you? just so i know when to try and start chasing them. Thank you for your advice and help, it really is appreciated.

yes this is the one ive sent off!!!! im hoping that this will help because im currently paying a stupid amount of tax and it just doesnt seem right at all.

so im looking around and it's saying due to the car being over 10 years old it wouldn't necessarily have come with a COC, but i'm just trying to fond out a little more as if this was supplied it may have negated any of the issues im now having and trying to correct ! Got no idea how i go abut getting one though.

Hi all!!! New here and first time Audi owner. I recently brought an imported A1 2014 plate, firstly I love it! but i've been having a few teething issues with the DVLA and the V5 etc. So as I said it's a A1 ,2014 plate, TFSI, automatic, the long book has finally been submitted and i've already noticed an issue with how many doors it has been registered as having, thats fine, I can sort that. But i've got no idea if its had the correct emissions recorded. Im not sure how I go about making sure it has the right info recorded or what it should have recorded as I have limited paperwork for it as the dealer said he sent it all off the DVLA for the car to be registered. It's cost me £231 to tax for 12 months, does that sound right for those with similar vehicle? I ask this not only to make sure everything has been recorded correctly but also so i'm paying the right amount for my residents permit as this is based on emissions and if its been recorded as a higher band then not only am i paying the wrong tax but the wrong bracket for my residents permit too. It's a whole saga. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! thanks all!
