    Thanks for the info. I've heard that some can suffer with oil starvation to the camshafts and timing chain issues. But not sure what years those were.

    Autodoc sell these genuine ZF kits at a reasonable price. You can find the procedure to do the job yourself on YouTube. It doesn't look to difficult to do if you're an half decent diy enthusiast. I'm going to my sons BMW 335d which has the same gearbox.

    Hi all, I'd be really grateful for some advice. I've been thinking of buying a Q5, it's a 3.0 tdi with 80000 on the clock. Is there any common problems I should be looking for. I'm not sure how reliable that V6 engine is. Any feedback would be most appreciated. Cheers Terry
