Hello and thanks for allowing me to join. If not for online resources, I may have banged my head to a mess already. My late Stepfather was a die hard VAG fan and it kinda transferred a tiny bit to me. He got me a few Jettas when I was young. RIP to the silver one... possum lessons... then the purty metallic blue one got rear ended with yours truly acting as the test dummy inside for a 62 MPH impact. Not fun times. Anyway, this new Audi experience has been pretty painful I must say. Part of that has to do with where I got the car(s) from. Avoid Carvana if possible. It's a giant racket and they take ZERO responsibility for their tiny fails, and also when they MASSIVELY fail. They're polite as can be about it the entire time at least?
I'm a pretty tech savvy individual and thank goodness because without deep researching, applying third party software, and patches here and there, and then also VCDS... somehow I'd be even more lost and confused. The connect, MyAudi, various portals.... and various paid services... is a NIGHTMARE! It truly blows my mind that a company that charges so much money for it's products... is content with so MANY issues. Then when ya take into consideration, the laundry list of known problems spread out across, well MOST of their product line... kinda makes ya scratch your head. Sure they're fun to drive.... but at what cost? Our sanity? The world is already doing a bang up job of eroding that daily.
So far I've got the MIB2 software installed as secondary options in the green menu. My maps were the factory 2018 issue from the factory and let me tell ya, finding even one update that works, isn't a fortune from the dealer or 3rd party sites, and wasn't "free" behind a spammy virus filled paywall was no easy task. I was able to make the hop to 2019-2020 map database... but have had some issues finding a good lillypad to jump to from there. The over the air update gets to 80% then says it'll finish installing when parked but... it gives zero dangs about being parked with the parking brake applied already. SMDH.
It's REALLY concerning as well that some of their tech support is kinda clueless about the very thing they're supposed to be "supporting". I was confused as heck when I saw something plugged into my OBD port already. Assumed it was Carvana tracking the dang thing but nope... that's the Motion gadget of course. Audi was too cheap to do what the other upscale car makers did like upgraded their customer base from 3G to 4 or 5g for free automatically. The weird thing is, it still works when I unplug it? I made the call to Motion support and got a lovely gentleman who said he was unregistering it from the previous owner, and I'd have to wait 24 hours for it to take affect.. then I could punch in the number he gave me and I'd be good to go! FAIL of course. Tried all weekend and still same BS of already registered to someone. Low and behold, I called today (Monday) was respectful but obviously irritated. The young lady got my VIN, verified some personal information.. then shazam! No 24 hour wait, no enter in any numbers, just open the app and bam there it was. That app though is extremely MEH! Not a lot of usefullness besides the rescue option to still function. Of course today was when the new MyAudi app released and *SHocked Face* it's broken for me. User management is completely not an option. Its just blank. Can't do much with that! I'm assuming I'll have to delete account, remake account, pick new credentials etc.
Gotta love the B and O subwoofer confined under the cargo cover too in the Sportback model. Would DEFINITELY ❤️ to have a conversation with that audio engineer! They did a BANGUP job of designing the ported enclosure.. but IMHO tuned it WAY too high and sure bass is not directional per say but uhhh... when it can't breathe you're only going to feel a tiny bit of a 6.- whatever size midwoofer. At least the mids and highs are crisp and sound amazing but for the price upgrade...lt's entirely possible to get a lot better product in the long run for LOWER.
Kinda a long rant but needed to get a few frustrations out of my head. I dig the car which is imperitive as I'll be paying on the dang thing til I'm 94 😛 Had to ditch the hideous factory grill immediately. I despised the front end every time I walked away from the car. For a little bit over 100 bucks on Fleabay, I really can't complain about the RS style honeycomb grill. I didn't even have any fitment issues with it, or with the 2 cameras or sensors that mount in it. Unfortunately I don't have the 3rd one for the fancy cruise control even though it's a S line. No worries. I don't cruise at the same speed much anyways hehe. Nice to meetcha'll!
