  1. I’m looking to remap my recently purchased 2015 S3 manual, but before I do that, I know I need to upgrade the clutch since the stock one is known to be sub-par. I’ve ended up going down the rabbit hole with no clear answer on what I should do. The car is a daily, so I don’t want a heavy on/off clutch, as that would quickly become tiresome—although something a bit less vague would be preferred. My starting point will be Stage 1+, with Stage 2/3 a consideration later on. In the UK, I can see four options: Sachs, RTS, Helix, and a TTRS conversion. From what I’ve read and watched, Sachs is the heaviest, yet some people say it’s barely heavier than stock once bedded in. RTS has a really interesting option in the twin-friction clutch, which supposedly has an almost OEM feel. However, I’ve also seen people say their quality isn’t what it used to be—possibly related to why Awesome GTI have stopped stocking them. I can’t find much on Helix, but supposedly they’re pretty close to OEM feel as well. The TTRS conversion feels a bit skunkworks, and any parts warranty on the install is basically void since it’s not being used in the correct application. But it does seem like a sensible option, as it can handle quite a bit of torque. Now to throw another spanner in the works: SMF vs. DMF. I understand that an SMF is the go-to when chasing big power; however, it introduces idle chatter, and from the videos I’ve seen online it’s pretty bad—definitely not something I want to deal with. That said, RTS seem to make an SMF that’s close in mass to the OEM flywheel and supposedly doesn’t have chatter. Annoyingly, there’s only one video I’ve found with it installed, but it does indeed sound normal. I wouldn’t rely on a sample of just one, though. (https://youtu.be/9ab4dz3Njck?t=425) So, what should I do for my use case? I’m very curious to hear if anyone has experience with an RTS clutch and SMF, as that’s probably what I’d go for—assuming the quality is good and the SMF is as quiet as RTS and the video I linked claim.
