  1. Hi again, yes the cost would be high at the main dealership for sure. After I purchased and fitted the new alternator everything seemed to be totally ok and charging the battery as it should. Then out of the blue about a month later the Alternator not charging the battery message appeared on the dash. I immediately contacted the supplier to ask how I would go about returning the unit thinking that I was seriously unlucky to have a brand new faulty unit. They came back to me immediately saying before I removed it check that the fuse was not faulty and sent me a video link to follow. The fuse was connected to a fuse box under the bonnet next to the battery. My car has the battery in the boot with the fuse box next to it in a side compartment, where the jack is stored. It's that information that made me aware that there is more to the problem than just replacing an alternator and the battery.
  2. Thank you for the heads up with that. I might just have to go to my local Audi dealership and explain the situation to them. I'm in a situation because the battery warning Alternator not charging the battery comes up on the dash which doesn't give me much of an option but to pay the price to get it fixed. Hopefully.
  3. Hi, thanks very much for getting back to me. I fitted a brand new replacement alternator to begin with. Then I fitted a brand new battery. No coding to the car to be honest. That's something that l'm totally not familiar with. There must be a weak link in the system that prevents these from properly working as they should.
  4. Firstly hello, my car is a 2011 Audi A6, 2.0L S-line estate. My issue began with the Alternator not charging the battery message appearing on the dashboard. I replaced the alternator with a new one and the problem seemed to be solved. Then approximately 2 months later the same Alternator not charging the battery appeared again. I replaced the battery today with a brand new one. Started the car and within 5 minutes the alternator not charging message appeared again. I've been told by the supplier of the alternator to check the fuse before removing and returning it. Has anyone had a similar issue to deal with? Thank you.
