  1. Update: It fixed itself after battery replacement and some wiggle on the steering wheel. Full recap: 1. The power steering only worked on cold starts. 2. The battery was replaced but now the power steering would never work 3. When car was stopped and engine off i turned the steering wheel right to left (not much just a little wiggle). 4. The power steering seems to work. I dont know how this helped but Im just happy it works again.
  2. Yes I think that is the only way of knowing. Is it possible that some sort of reset using VCDS might resolve the issue? After the battery replacement it also stopped working on cold starts, though I dont think this car needs reseting after a battery replacement. But yeah, I should make a scan.
  3. Car: Audi A3 Hatchback, 8p1, 2004 (sold 2003), feat. BGU engine. Hey, my power steering only seem to work after the first start without any issues while driving. But when starting the car shortly after a drive, about less than a couple of hours the power steering will not be initialized and the red steering lamp appears on the dashboard. I dont really know how long it takes until it will initialize again but the shortest I have tried is 5 hours. Because of this I suspect some sort of heating on the circuits which is generated during driving. I tried replacing the battery, but that did not fix the problem. I believe this car has electric motor power steering, without any fluid. Anyone else here that have run into similar problems? Any advice would be appreciated. - Eskil
