Hello all a4 b8 owners
I have a 2009 a4 tdi 2.0 wagon b8. In Dec it broke down on me and since then it's been a mare, had spent loads on it battery alternator corroded wiring etc etc. Had a final diagnosis of a broken or faulty ignition switch that's sits in the dashboard. Key fob slots into it to start engine. Been told a new switch is 350 quid and maybe a new key fob 140 quid due to having to be sent away to be coded, is this right ? Seems really expensive ! I've seen a4 switches from audi breakers for 70 quid ! Also audi dealer told me he didn't have to do that on 3 of his a5s. He said when buying the breakers yard switch ask the guy to make sure its got no component protection on it . Assuming this means that it would be coded to the audi it came off ! So buy having no component protection does it mean it's been decoded ? All seems complicated tbh. Has anyone had experience with this problem? The faulty switch is what's been causing the power drain since December. Can anyone help .thankyou
