  1. Yeah, thats where my thinking is heading, but do i go a step further and throw more money at it or retire it and move on! It's frustrating because sometimes it drives perfectly for 5 mins and then it doesn't 😠
  2. Yeah, sorry forgot to say, thats the first thing that was checked - no codes recorded.
  3. Hi, the car is a A3 8P 2005 with the 2.0 tfsi engine 135,000 miles. For the last month or so the DSG started to hold onto gears for no reason, mainly 2nd to 3rd etc, 1st to 2nd mostly ok but it would occasionally hold 1st until 3k or almost 4k rpm! It was initially just occasionally but soon became the norm, with the odd brief window of working normally for a few minutes. The DSG oil and filter were changed (last done approx 30,000 miles ago) then seemed better but definately not fixed . Then a software delete/update, which initially was worse, then after a weekend of changing gears manually, it suddenly drove normally for over half an hour. Thought great its relearned the correct parameters or whatever it has to do! but the following day, back to the now normal, 1st to 2nd great, no 3rd till 4k, so back to manually changing again 90% of the time! Thinking now a Mechatronics fault? (to be honest the car is worth very little now, so if that is the problem, it will likely be retired) Any advice greatfully received.
