I would imagine you will need to remove the door panel first to gain access to the door handle?
-
Check the obvious ignition related stuff first such as spark plugs etc

Thanks James good info. Perhaps stick a guide up some time with photos?

Hi check out this vide. It's an iphone but should give you an idea of how to do it on the car side:

Hi and welcome to the club! :)
Not heard of the problem myself but I would say it sounds like a misbehaving switch.
-
No worries! As a 1999, it will be a facelifted B5

Glad you got it sorted! Fingers crossed the light stays off! B)

Hi Gaz welcome to the club! :)

I would think you will have to cut the door card unfortunately. Unless you can access the catch by rolling the window down?

Hi and welcome to the club! :)
Locate the spring on the brake pedal and try a small quantity of white grease. Pump the pedal a little and this should hopefully cure the squeak!

Hi Ryan welcome to the club! :)

Hi Pat welcome to the club! :)

Clutch slip would normally only happen in higher gears like you said too. Try taking it on a motoroway/dual carriage way and then putting your foot down from low revs in top gear

Hi and welcome :)
It does sounds a lot like clutch slip. How many miles has the car done?
Normally, with clutch slip, the revs will go up but not your speed.
