  1. I have no idea to be honest. It was my wife's uncle who is the mechanic but he sent it someone else who he trusts, so I would hope so. But I really don't know.
  2. Help! I bought an A7 Quattro a couple of weeks ago from a friend. A family member who is a mechanic said I should have it remapped to improve performance and fuel consumption. I did so without thinking about it. A couple of days ago I got a warning message on the dash saying "Gearbox Malfunction " and the car would not change up out of 2nd gear. I switched the car off and back on and it works , but having taken it back to my family members garage for them to run a diagnostic, there is a problem logged in the system. I've spoken to the main dealer who my friend bought it from and they confirmed that it is 2 days out of warranty but they would show some goodwill given its just out of warranty and will pay for a new gearbox (but not labour) should it need one. I'm about to take it to the main dealer for them to take a look. But when they run a diagnostic will they see its been remapped and therefore refuse to do anything under warranty? If so it could apparently cost me over £5k if the gearbox needs replacing. Is there anything I can do? I paid £200 for the remap and he's told me it will cost £240 to Un remap it. I'm thinking that it might be money well spent as long as it doesn't show any signs of being tinkered with when Audio run the diagnostic. I'm guessing the remap won't have had anything to do with the Gearbox Malfunction? But they could still refuse to offer any warranty work. There is no guarantee that it needs a new gearbox, but knowing my luck it will!! Can anyone offer any advice as to what I should do? Many thanks John
