  1. Hi all, Our 1.9 TDi has a habit of taking a few more turns than usual when starting after being driven recently, so when warm. It does eventually fire but nearly takes the engine mount with it and makes a hell of a noise (IMO, probably being dramatic). I had an old E34 BMW that wouldn't start at all from hot due to the heat melting a connection in the starter solenoid so I'm inclined to change the starter on the A3 and be done with it. However is this a problem anyone else has experienced and fixed a different way? Mike.
  2. Hi all, The sensors on our A3 don't work (haven't since we bought it) but with Christmas out the way I can get round to sorting it out. One long beep when selected reverse which I believe just lets you know there's a fault. The same happened on a Passat my stepdad had so I'm guessing this is pretty common, if so is there something this usually is? Does one sensor going down take out the rest like 80s spec fairy lights? Thanks Mike
  3. Just to update this in case anyone else searches for it, the buttons do illuminate and it was a loose wire which wobbled to fixed mode once the wheel was adjusted around a bit.
  4. Hey, I've just bought an A3 for my girlfriend for Christmas so I'm spending these coming weeks tidying it up a bit. It's a 1.9 TDI with a pretty strong spec, can't think of an option it doesn't have other than xenons (if this was an option at the time). Anyway, I drive an E46 BMW and the wheel controls are really strongly lit, whereas when driving the A3 at night I found myself flicking the interior light on to see what button did which. Are these meant to be lit, if so is there an easy way of getting to the lights to change? It's the four spoke older style wheel with the larger airbag if that helps. Thanks.
