  1. I did a search on this website regarding the CVT. Nothing comes up. I am in a pickle. I have a 2002 A4, 1.8 turbo with the CVT tranny. I have had the car for 6 years and have been very happy with it. It has 105K miles on it and has started presenting a noise that appears to be coming from the front of car. It is intermittent but seems to arrive at 55 to 60 miles per hour. It seems to be a vibration related noise. I thought it was tires and replaced both front tires. Occassionally the tranny doesn't seem to engage properly from a cold start. When you start the car, press accelerator the car sometimes jumps and then either stalls or jerks forward. Once it has done this it smooths out and generally doesn't happen again for some time. Seems to only happen off a cold start. I have seen a number of videos on youtube about this tranny. I am having problems and some of the symptoms parallel those identified. I have enjoyed this car and would like to continue doing so but am afraid the tranny is failing. I have contacted local transmission shops and they won't touch this. The Audi dealer won't tell me anything, want me to bring them the car in and give them a blank check. I have talked with a number of rebuilders and they want me to send the tranny or car to them. Everywhere I turn it appears by the time I do anything it will cost more than the car is currently worth. Is their anyone out there that knows this transmission, and is willing to talk to me or assist me in some way. Thank you Randy
