  1. Definitely a screw. It has a T30 torx head. thanks Andrew
  2. I thought it might be, but I was just hoping someone might know as it was the only one like it that I had removed. Definitely more organisation needed in future! Thanks for your reply Andrew
  3. Hello all, Ive recently replaced the cam chain and tensioner on my a6 avant 2.0 tfsi bpj engine. I ended up removing the high pressure pump, cylinder head cover, vacuum pump and camshaft adjuster case. I also removed the camshaft retaining frame, sprocket and various bits of electronic and hose clips. Unfortunately there was a long gap between taking it apart and putting it back together and I’ve ended up with the dreaded left over screw! luckily it’s quite distinctive so I’m hoping someone might be able to tell me where it’s from. It’s got a large flat washer like head with a T30 head and is approximately 30mm long. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Doesn’t seem to have made any difference unfortunately. Does that leave me with no option other than to start replacing parts? Thanks Andrew
  5. Thanks. I’ll give that a go and report back.
  6. Hello, I’ve had the following code pop up on my diagnostics for a while now. looking at it’s description it is either: Possible Causes Leakage in Intake and/or Exhaust System Catalyst faulty Oxygen Sensor(s) faulty Oxygen Sensor(s) Control fault i don’t really want to just start throwing money at it by replacing a part at a time, is there any way to diagnose further? Which o2 sensor may be faulty, how do I test them and what readings are out of tolerance? I assume if the o2 sensors are testing ok, then the catalyst is likely to be the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Andrew Photo.pdf
  7. Again, not sure what’s in there at the minute but got a Bosch filter to put back in. Thanks andy
  8. The manual states 500ml every 1000k of oil consumption so about right but will check more regularly
  9. I’d say I was putting just under a litre in. Ive not had an oil change since ownership so not sure what grade of oil was in to begin with but have been putting Castrol gtx 5w 30 which I think was VW 502 spec. Just bought a new filter and some: Castrol Engine Oil (Edge Long Life Engine Oil - 5W-30 - 4ltr), that’s VW 503 spec, and will do a full oil change and see how I get on. Thanks again Andy
  10. Hi, thanks for this response. It has put my mind at ease a little and will check up in the manual I’ve only owned the car since April and had to top it up twice. Thanks andy
  11. Hi, I have a 2008 2l TFSI 95000 miles and it’s going from full on the dipstick to check oil level light on the dash, approximately every 3-4 months (2500 miles). There are no apparent leaks or patches of oil left under the car. Is this normal? If not what are the most likely causes? I’ve not noticed any blue smoke from the exhaust, however there does seem to be a lot of exhaust smoke when both engine and weather are cold. (More than I’ve had with any other car) Thanks Andy
  12. I keep coming across this part number: 4E0 035 785 F On eBay but will it work?
  13. Hi, I'm looking to play my iPod and have full function through the mmi 2g high running latest software. From what i've read, the best way of doing this is to replace the CD changer with and AMI. The part number i've found is 4E0 057 785 with various letters for different versions. I'm struggling to find a unit for a sensible amount of money so does anyone know: 1. if any other AMI's from different models are compatible? 2. somewhere to buy the correct AMI from? Thanks Andy
