  1. Thanks Niedzial. Apols for the late response. I have been living with the fault for a while to see if I could find a pattern. No luck so far. Your advice is much appreciated. I'm taking the car to a gearbox specialist tomorrow. There are various options suggested: Transmission fluid Software update New & expensive Mechatronic system. Wish me luck!
  2. I wish I knew if something was missing. I was hoping someone on this forum with a 2011 A5 would be able to send me a photo of the underside of the cover so that I can see how mine should look; then I will know. I didn't realise this would be such a difficult question! 🙂
  3. I like the whole of your answer, except for one tiny bit - the question mark! 🙂. That was our guess too, but I need proof, just in case it has come off of something more serious. The guy at the garage did not know what it was, but was happy to order another one, like the others. This one is different from the others.
  4. I'm afraid not. It's got strangely discoloured and disfigured since I took the first. pic a week ago. Do you happen to have a good photo of the underside of the A5 (2011 model) removable engine cover? I would be interested to see whether mine has all the required 'grommets' on it. Thanks
  5. I found this loose on top of my engine, near the back (towards the windscreen). Any idea what it is and where it should have been? It's about the size of my thumbnail 1-2cm diameter. It's rubber.
  6. Hi Paul Thank you for the warm welcome. I solemnly promise not to destroy the atmosphere in anyway, although I do find it very difficult keeping my sense of humour under control. Hopefully the punishment for that is not to hideous. If you actually look like your picture, I am sure I will spot you as you drive past. That is overly cute. All the best Carol ex A6 and A4 owner.
  7. Hi Steve Many thanks indeed. I should have joined a long time ago. I have had so much go wrong with my lovely Audis - usually because I am afraid of car garages in the way that many people are afraid of dentists! I just don't trust any of them and believe they will all cause me pain! All the best Carol
  8. Years ago. Too long. Tens of thousands of miles.
  9. I am seeking advice. If this topic has been discussed, please direct me to the appropriate thread. I bought my A5 nearly 2 years ago. It was in excellent condition except for one thing, which I have tolerated. Occasionally, and I cannot find any pattern to the occasions, it will jolt violently as I stop. This does not happen every time, so I know it is not my driving technique, which I guess is what you might think. I have tried to see if it occurs when on the flat, upslope, down slope, stop-start conditions or after a long run. I can find no pattern. I appears to be random. Anyway, I have tolerated that until now. Now, I am finding that gear changes, when in either normal Automatic or Sports mode are becoming jerky. More worryingly, there can be a tiny delay in accelerating away from a standstill - no fun when you are entering a busy roundabout. Has anyone experienced this and can they give me a clue as to what the issue is? I have an inherent distrust of garages who like to try all sorts of experiments at my expense before finally finding the solution. Thanks in advance for your advice.
  10. Hi. I've joined simply to get some technical advice. I currently own a 2011 model Automatic A5 TFSi. I love it to bits. I have previously owned an A4 and an A6. The A5 is the best so far.
