  1. Gents! So I have noticed that when accelerating to motorway speeds, as I pass about 45/50, There is a whining sound, almost like a whirring/medium pitch humming sound that increases in pitch as speed goes up. 2014 A5 2.0TDI (134) 114k miles 0B1 6-speed manual gearbox (0B1 is the code Audi gave me so I could look into getting repairs) I originally though it could be worn gear sets as the car had spent pretty much all of its life before I bought it as a motorway cruiser between B'ham and Bristol - However, I've noticed that as time/mileage has passed, the noise is appearing at lower speeds. Originally the sound was only made in 5th & 6th gears, but now I've added about 1k miles on it since noise started, I can hit high revs in 4th and hear the sound starting. I have been told by a gearbox centre that the only time he has seen a gearbox of the type I have, it was the journal bearing at the end of the casing that couldn't be replaced due to Audi not selling the part needed and it being proprietary, meaning I'd need a new gearbox. Given the potential costs involved of what I've been told, I figured I would ask around on here to see if you guys have any insights, thoughts, or had a similar or identical problem in the past. I was considering taking it in for a gearbox oil change and asking them to just add in a little extra as a few cars I've owned in the past did benefit from such a move - not to hide a problem. Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. I'll look into getting a video recording and hopefully it'll pick up the sound in the coming days, see if you guys know the noise. Cheers Guys!
  2. So, this happened a few weeks ago, and now it's happened again. For reference: 2014 A5 sportback 2.0TDI (140) First time was stop start not being able to cycle properly (car told me to manually restart the engine) causing the EML to come on. Last night I drove almost 500 miles, Stopped off to grab a drink and have a rest, I got in car, pulled upto a stop sign at a services road, and as I didn't remember to disable stop start, the EML came on again. It usually stays on for a couple of days, then goes off on its own. I'm going to book it in for later this week to have Audi have a looksee and see what they can find, but out of curiosity, what OBD readers would you guys recommend as if this keeps happening, I want to be able to see what's causing the issue and get into it as it happens. Cheers!
  3. Hey guys! Last week I was sitting in some traffic with stop/start enabled, engine was off due to being in stationary traffic. I got a notification on the dash screen saying "stop/start disabled, please manually restart engine" - So, I pushed clutch down to restart engine, and when the engine restarted, the engine management light came on. Stayed on for a few days and booked it in to go to Audi for a diagnostic. Decided to fill the car up incase they needed to take it for a test drive, and this is where it gets odd (but in a good way for my wallet) As I pulled onto the forecourt, there was a queue for the pumps, and I forgot to disable S/S so the engine went off while not moving, as soon as I pressed clutch down and the engine restarted, the EML went off and hasn't come back on since. Audi also had to cancel my appointment due to staff levels, thus saving me the diagnostic charge. Is this a known thing where the EML comes on if stop/start doesn't cycle properly? I'm guessing when it popped up with manually restart engine, and the engine wasn't manually restarted as the car did it anyway, this caused some form of temporary fault to log itself? Very strange, considering the car didn't go into limp mode, still drove normally and didn't feel any different than usual. My old VXR was really melodramatic with the EML and would force itself into limp mode and be otherwise vindictive so this one struck me as quite odd lol
  4. So, After much nossing around on the internet and looking under different and obscure search terms, I FINALLY found some wind deflectors for the Audi A5 Sportback! https://www.astela.eu/en/audi/29-audi-a5-5d-sportback-2009--aua1280988.html Well chuffed as I'm getting a little bored of being rained on when I have the window open in less than ideal weather!
  5. I've looked all over and I can't find anything so I'm hoping you guys can help. I'm looking for a set of wind deflectors (ones that are installed at the top of side windows) for my A5 saloon but I have the problem of all of the windows on the A5 being frameless. I'm not sure if something like that exists or whether possible due to being frameless? It's just annoying having the window open slightly and having rain just fall into the car from the roof. All help appreciated!
  6. Hey, After working for Audi in the past and always having a soft spot for them, just gotten rid of my old car and bought an Audi A5 S-Line. Collecting it tomorrow and can't wait! With the 2014 5-door variants (2.0TDI 136), any issues you guys know of or things I should be looking out for? Help, advice, and pointers are all appreciated!
