  1. Thanks gareth I've looked at the servicing menu in the car and it's showing next oil service due in 8000 miles or 3 months. I've also spoken to the main dealer who wants around £200 for an oil change. I do scrupulously maintain my cars. It's done only 4000 miles since the last service so I'm going to wait a few months and see how it goes. i don't know how long I'll be keeping the car, I haven't used it enough to know whether I'll "bond" with it. If I'm bored with a car I tend to change for something else. In a few months my options will be to do it myself (not likely this time due to the warranty until February), main dealer service, or use a local German car specialist, they are also a respected Porsche specialist so not a bad alternative. It would be useful to get hold of a proper service schedule to see what should be done at each service. There's nothing in my manual.
  2. I want to fit a towbar to my 2017 B9 A4 tfsi. It will be used predominantly for trailer trips to the dumpit site, possibly my dinghy and to carry a bike. We are considering buying a touring caravan, so I will probably opt for 13 pin electrics. However, I'm undecided what type to get. I've done a lot of research, as usual and I'm having doubts about a detachable swan neck, which was my initial choice. i have read about at least one total failure (probably a rare occurrence), but many people who have problems with the detachable part locking or failing to lock. Some had to cancel trips. I also have read about some needing several replacements due to a degree of play developing in the socket. I really want to keep life simple and avoid any hassle. I want a swan neck of some description because I believe they are compatible with the common Alko caravan stabilisers, in case we decide to get a caravan. I have a back issue, worse some days than others, and I don't fancy wrestling with a detachable. Sorry about the verbose nature of this thread, but my questions are 1. Does anyone have a fixed swan neck towbar on their a4 avant, and if so, does it affect the rear parking sensors? 2. Is it possible to remove the towball section on a fixed swan neck towbar, and does it make it less obtrusive / less likely to bark our shins on 3. Any recommendations on towbars? I'd be grateful for any feedback
  3. Thank you for the response, Gareth, it was serviced in June 2019 at around 8000 miles, I think it was on flexible servicing and I agree, a fixed schedule would suit the low annual mileage of the car. If I keep it on flexible servicing for another year, I hope the used car warranty, valid until next February, will be honoured. Not on PCP, paid cash btw
  4. I have a 17 reg 2.0 tfsi 190 bhp A4 Avant, registered June 2017. It's on a fixed schedule and has done around 12000 miles , Can anyone please advise what service is due and the likely cost? thanks in advance
