  1. Hi like one of the posts on that site said once done it is irretrievably there, it might have been an idea to have posted a couple of days ago, personally I have never had any success with any Audi problem curing update, I have a theory that they are trying hard to limit the lifespan of the later diesel models to try and upgrade the possibility of electric car sales as they just are not selling, the other day I saw an 2022 Etron GT for sale second hand 36k on the clock £40,000, makes you wonder, what price was that new they seem to be a four wheeled Stockmarket crash. Steve.
  2. Hi take the SD card out and buy an adaptor so you can view it on your PC. Steve.
  3. Hi it does not make sense, if you have not already got a motor why do you want to buy one, it wont matter how many part sites we suggest you wont get a part number for it if it was not fitted in the first place as they all work on VIN numbers. Steve.
  4. Hi Cliff well put but they are not snake oil just the stuff that comes out of the snakes rear end, any tuning box is eventual death for your engine, the best advice on this thread was LEAVE IT ALONE? Steve.
  5. Hi the only way to find out is to get the car scanned for faults, this will give you a ballpark as to where the problem is, also it could be the throttle body or an injector or an airleak. Steve.
  6. Hi there you go, a Damn sight cheaper than buying somebody else's worn out parts, well done. Steve.
  7. Hi sounds as though the PCV valve might have ruptured its designed to only pass water and oil vapour and when it wont function correctly it will suck out engine oil and also introduce more air via the filler cap that would account for the rough idle, also check the injector seals in the rocker cover if they are oily that will contribute to oil loss as the PCV Valves sometimes block and pressurise the crankcase, easiest way to check is get the engine warm then unhook the hose from the PCV valve [circular item on top of the rocker cover], then get some kitchen towel and with. the engine running see what comes out. Steve.
  8. Hi sounds from your description like a gearbox problem, my guess is a differential bearing. Steve
  9. I t is most likely the pump failing, well worth replacing the pump and any drive mechanism. Steve.
  10. Hi the oil used sounds about right but absent any brand of oil filter I really could not give an informed opinion, oil viscosity is important was it 05/30?, depending on the milage you may have to go to 05/40 which is not thicker it just has different temperature characteristics. Steve.
  11. Hi no problem I have done the over grease a few years ago thats when I discovered the difference between floating and fixed callipers. Steve.
  12. Hi TPS are not helpful anymore same as Audi main dealers, if its the cooler thats in the DPF NRG do a cooler online thats about £250 and the valve is about £160 vs just under £500 for the cooler and £370 for the valve from TPS.
  13. Hi very, very diplomatic Clifford, disappoint is definitely not on my list of terms for them. Steve.
  14. Hi it my well be available as a repair kit online but will require some soldering but only cut one wire at a time and older to the respective station on the new plug, if your not comfortable doing this get an auto electrician to do the job, this is a standard plug used on a lot of different cars. Steve.
  15. Hi probably is using more diesel to compensate for the intermittent signals from the ECU that the adblue is about to run out, the ECU is like a thick friend that believes anything he is told, I have used Forte on a couple of diesels a Q5, a Transit and a Skoda with very positive results, it takes a while to do its stuff and at around £15.00 a bottle its worth a go. Steve.
  16. Hi its probably adblue crystals clogging the level sensor in the tank, try a bottle of Forte adblue crystal remover available on eBay or Halfords. Steve.
  17. Hi its a bad earth on the rear of the light cluster, common problem. Steve.
  18. Hi as usual the dealers are full of brown stuff as long as you have the type of charger that has the voltage cut off for when the battery is nearly full it will be fine, it should go on/off as the battery voltage rises and falls, they are probably hoping you will leave the car and the battery will die and they can charge you £400 for a new one plus fitting. Steve.
  19. Hi yes that was common practice pre floating callipers when you were replacing pads in fixed callipers I.E. the pads slotted in to the calliper of which the only moving part was the main piston and the pads, these suffered with brake bind and uneven pad wear, the advent of floating callipers this was virtually eradicated as there was more vertical and lateral movement for both calliper and pads to allow for dirt and corrosion inside the calliper, therefore the pads will always release, I have found through experience copper grease can also affect the performance of speed sensors, therefore I only use silicone grease on the pins and Ceratec on the pad runners as both the products have no conductivity. Steve.
  20. Hi the big end shells are not good the lighter patches are where the coating is worn away when the oil pressure has dropped and they have been in contact with the crank journals, its quite a complex system at the bottom end the journals are always separated from the bearings by a film of oil this negates any bearing/journal contact on initial start, the oil pump pressure is almost instant and from there the bearings/journals are separated by what is known as a hydraulic wedge which keeps the two apart, on very old engines say the 1900s the bearing shells were coated with horse hair this allowed for the very inefficient oil pumps to get up to pressure without damaging the crank journal. Steve.
  21. Hi its either the switch is faulty or or the wiring under the seat, remove the plugs one at a time and clean them with contact cleaner its highly unlikely that all the heater pads under the base cushions have failed therefore I would try the switch first, get a multimeter with a back probe and make sure you have power to the switch and then activate the switch to see if any power is going through it. Steve.

Hi the only way round this is take it to a good body shop where they will remove the trim then give it to a paint shop to mix the colour, there is no standard paint code for the trim parts as they are made elsewhere and depending where may be a couple of shades out which wont really matter as they are fitted as a set. Steve.
  23. Hi I dont know anyone in your area but try this one they are near lakeside in Essex and do an excellent nation wide pick up and delivery service, Pro Power Steering Ltd 01708 60 66 22, they remanufacture pretty much any make of cars steering, they recently did my friends Dodge Coronet rack circa 1966. Steve.
  24. Hi asked my friend who runs my local garage and he said it could be the OSS sensor at the back of the gearbox this can be damaged wiring or corroded pins where the plug goes on to it, he also mentioned that total failure is normally accompanied by an engine management light and apparently in some cases with no light on just changing the gearbox oil has cured it. Steve.
  25. Hi nothing on the motor will cause that its just the pads moving against the cylinder and the flat mounting surface of the outer calliper this in turn squeals when it is gripped by the disc, the only place you should grease is the pad runners and the floating pins under the rubber boots. Steve.
