  1. Hi I would say its the O2 sensor, easy fix and relatively cheap to buy. Steve.
  2. Hi its most likely the thermostat sticking open so I would change that first if that wont work change the matrix its only worth using Valeo/Febi as a lot of the cheaper ones fail, might be worth flushing the system as the silica bags in the coolant tank rupture and block the matrix, so try the thermostat and flush first you may well save some money and a lot of grief. Steve.
  3. Hi on the original post you quoted 50m from the the sea is that 50 miles or metres, I did not at any point say you don't trust Brembo just trying to fathom out why I have never had the same problem other than sporadicly as I live seventeen miles from the sea and if I get what you have the rust is gone within 900yds with no detriment to the longevity of the discs, if you factor in road salt over the winter months and all the various acidic compounds in the water when it rains its a no brainer the discs will along with everything else under the floor will corrode the time table for this is heavily dependent on the quality of steel used in making the bolts and even the plastic trim clips holding the under tray and wheel arch liners on they eventually harden and fail, I only use high carbon discs with no small success, with both ceramic and carbon fibre disc the downside is the extra time they take heat to the level where braking efficiency is optimum, this is caused by the fact that both mediums are 50% better at losing heat than carbon steel and should realistically used on cars that are driven aggressively, so in essence you only have one of two choices. Steve.
  4. Hi no camshaft sensors are different but from your faults and seeing as you have changed the the throttle body I would be looking at the throttle position sensor on the pedal. Steve.
  5. Hi have they scanned the car for fault codes, if so what were they, confused by the list, high pressure and low pressure injectors not heard of them. Steve.
  6. Hi all E11/E9 discs are rigorously tested to get this E mark therefore they will have taken the surface rust in to account, the corrosion you are suffering wont make the discs rot any quicker than anybody else's , I use ATE/BREMBO on my car and occasionally get rust spots or complete film rusting over the whole surface and I still get 70k out of them, it seems from my perspective that you are trying to build a case to buy what is basically a very expensive piece of kit just so your discs look nice in the morning, you make no mention of track days, if thats what you intend doing by all means go for it. Steve.
  7. Hi good shout, I have no doubt it would be good policy to purchase some of No 22 which is the clips which will give the pipes more longevity, shame whoever put the pipes on used jubilee if they used the clips you wouldn't have this problem as the pipes look good apart from the crushed mounting ends. Steve.
  8. Hi hazard a guess on what's leaking out it looks like a power steering pipe judging by the colour of the leak, I would also assume its been replaced before as it has a jubilee clip and all pipe clips on Audi are of the spring variety on armoured hoses as this allows for thermal expansion and contraction, jubilee clips don't and if overtightened muller the integrity of the hose as when they expand the rubber has nowhere to go. Steve.
  9. Hi mine were spline bits bought a set of 1/2 inch drive off of eBay quite cheap American Pro and they take plenty of action. Steve.
  10. H Hi Gareth is spot on there is another guy on here at this very moment, Will Stevens having holy hell with his extended warranty, every time he goes in THE COMPUTER SAYS NOT covered, Audi could not guarantee a funeral plan once they have your money possession is nine tenths of the law, looking at the dynamics of it full service history should mean a clear and transparent history from day one, they certainly new what they were doing when they abandoned service history books. Steve.
  11. Hi I have no doubt they will do that because the switch only costs them a couple of quid and they charge that and the two hours labour to Audi UK, nice fiddle if you can get it, the IDOS system they use for the job wont quote less than two hours for anti repair. Steve.
  12. Hi thats bang on I supported my engine on a gearbox jack it just gives you a couple of inches wiggle room which where the starter is positioned is a godsend, you can get it out without removing the DPF/CAT but I bet they still swear a lot. Steve.
  13. Hi will its the switch then, new switch is fairly cheap on the internet and I would not mind betting its the same switch as on a few other models of that year, good old globalisation. Steve.
  14. Hi as you look at the front of the car its at the bottom on the left just above the subframe and you will have to remove the engine mount that side to get it out, yet another superb piece of Audi engineering, the units are made by Nippon Denso and very robust unless you leave the stop/start on all the time which kills them pretty quick, mine lasted 180k. Steve.
  15. Hi Will does it work from the main panel on the drivers door, if so its the switch, if not it could be corrosion in the plug that connects the door electrics to the B pillar. Steve.
  16. Hi they may be the all weather lights or cornering lights also known as front fog lamps. Steve.
  17. Hi its a rear bumper lower valence, loads on eBay second hand and aftermarket, easy job it clips on and I think it might have a couple of bolts on the centre section lower down. Steve.
  18. Hi would be nice if we can get a positive result for you, I honestly think you are not far off of cracking this one with the help of your friend, tell him to have a look at the live data for the throttle body as this should tell you if its the body or the position sensor. Steve.
  19. Hi with extreme difficulty, a lot of swearing and possibly new clips, its normally easier to remove the rubber seal down the door panel and poke the wire inside but a lot of cars I have done lately have the strip glued to the metal bead held on with some sort of double sided cloth tape, don't be to afraid of giving the pillar trim some action as if you have the right set of trim removal tools it takes a lot to break it. Steve.
  20. Hi Dale, from memory I think its part of the fuel vapour purge system this collects vapour from the system filters out any bits and re burns the vapour, all part of the wonderful emissions control. I think the reset will prove useful as my neighbour had similar symptoms on his old Polo after he had fitted a new throttle body it ran like a bag of nails until we readapted the new body, in saying that if it still wont run properly it probably is either the body or the position sensor, not much help but at least it will narrow it down, again from memory the position sensor on the peddle is plug in and play as its only a slave unit for the throttle body. Steve.
  21. Hi buy smaller wheels with higher profile tyres, 17inch, thats the main function of pneumatics it subjugates the road noise from the surfaces, unfortunately people only want BIG wheels with lower profile tyres for which there is a penalty, normally extra road noise, anything under a 50 profile will exhibit this problem. Steve.
  22. Hi will that is still eye watering, they are greedy bar stewards, its probably a two hour job and a bit of solvent/carbon cleaner and hot water, Audi extended warranties appear commercially branded Andrex and Cushelle, thats about all they are fit for, yes they are a dream car to own but everyone who buys one should swap their deep rose tinted specs for clear ones to to read the research on the problems these cars have with that system and the cooler its attached to. Steve.
  23. Hi sounds like it still has air in it somewhere furthermore what diagnostic platform was used to clear the fault codes as sometimes VCDS is the only way to clear them. Steve.
  24. Hi it means the low pressure valve that sits on top of the Low Pressure cooler is probably stuck and covered in a mixture of wet adblue crystals, £1400 is not reasonable for this job, the parts are about £200 aftermarket, when I say aftermarket I mean a VDO unit which is oe at about £160 then the transfer tube and clips and a gasket for the unit is about another £38, my opinion for what its worth is go find a good independent it will work out a hell of a lot cheaper, depending on your milage they might get away with cleaning your old unit, Audi are well aware of this problem on their Diesel engines. Steve.
  25. Hi thank you for the pictures, I honestly think that the throttle body has the MAF in it but I am also concerned that the throttle position sensor on the peddle may also be at fault, its only a unit thats like old fashioned hand scales whereby the peddle pulls a spring arrangement within a sealed unit which pulls an internal resistor past a series of contacts which register the required position of the throttle butterfly to the throttle housing. Steve.
