  1. Hi Gareth, Yeah I can source a Sachs kit from somewhere else, as it happens I've just found it at carparts4less for a decent price. CPiM have the flywheel yes. I'll be doing it myself, have done it in the past so have some experience (and the space & tools, mostly). I like a challenge.
  2. Have managed to source a suitable Sachs flywheel, but the compatible Sachs clutch kit is currently out of stock with the same supplier. I have in the past (on a Saab) bought kits where the flywheel was Sachs and the clutch kit was LUK, without any issue at all. When I questioned the supplier about the mixing of brands here, they advised me not to. Surely if the parts are compatible, brand name wouldn't matter? I would prefer everything to be Sachs, but honestly I'm not bothered as long as they work together, are of quality and are currently available. Any thoughts on this?
  3. Thanks Steve, as it happens I did that with CPiM and got a quote, and yeah their prices seem reasonable. Thanks for the info about Sachs, didn't know that.
  4. Hi folks, Looking for some help finding the correct clutch kit with flywheel, so much conflicting info after spending A LOT of time trying to find out 🙂 A3 2012 (11 UK plate), 8PA TDI 2.0 103KW, with Start/Stop. Engine CFFB. Can provide VIN if that's useful. I keep getting contradictory info regarding the number of teeth because of the start stop function. Preferably LUK or Sachs. Thanks
  5. No problem Cliff, it's not easy to describe - at least I'm not great at describing it, heh. Yeah it's getting to the barrel part that I'm having a problem with. Working from the door interior (door card removed etc), there's not much room to manoeuvre, and there's a small black plastic cover thing over the handle section that I can partly remove, but not completely. This is where I'm currently blocked.
  6. As far as I can tell the rod seems fine, ie when I operate the handle it does what it's supposed to - open the door. Apart from that, I'm stumped to be honest.
  7. Hi Cliff, I did take some photos here of what I can see, do you mean the long metal rod? If so, that's fine, still attached as far as I can tell. Problem I have is the black plastic cover where the handle is, I can loosen it part way, but not completely. The torx you mention, does it say if it's inside the door or on the outside of the handle (accessible from the exterior)?
  8. Hi folks. Had this issue for a while, haven't managed to sort it yet. The driver's door (UK) has the manual barrel lock mechanism, but on my vehicle it doesn't work. When the car is locked, if I insert the key and turn it to the right to unlock, it does nothing. It turns, but nothing is unlocked. If I turn it to the left, there's a resistance and then it 'clicks', but again, this has no effect on either locking or unlocking the car. The remote central locking all works as it should. I took a video to help demonstrate the problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHzwlFzjfAg I've had the door card a couple of times to have a look, but I can't dismantle the handle/barrel mechanism - there's something in the way that I can't remove, a black plastic cover over the part where the barrel is. I've removed the lower lock, the part that latches when the door closes, to get better access, but still I can't reach what I need to, and I don't want to start breaking things through frustration (I know myself). Hopefully this is a common issue and an easy fix. Any ideas? Cheers
  9. To answer my own question, apparently if the vehicle is equipped with Driver's Information System then the correct module is present to accept a retrofit. As a noob to Audi, hopefully someone will confirm this is the case 🙂
  10. Hi Gareth, Thanks for your advice. Do you know if it's possible to do what I'm asking?
  11. Test drove an A3 today, am quite keen on the car but it doesn't have cruise control (have got used to having it in current vehicle). I have the VIN, is it possible to find out whether it is pre-equipped with the correct wiring if I wanted to retrofit a cc module myself? Or are all these vehicles capable even if the option wasn't present from factory? I'm aware it would have to be programmed in if fitted. Thanks
  12. Cheers, ideally pre painted? What kind of price are we looking at for a pair, had a look but prices seem all over the place. If anyone can recommend a seller, would appreciate
  13. Hi folks. Looking at purchasing a local A4 58 plate, but the only thing putting me off is bubbling front wheel arches. Rears seem ok. Was wondering where the best place is to source two genuine replacement wings would be, pre painted (black, don't know the code etc yet). Thanks
