  1. Hello Audi people. I have this driver wing mirror on my 8p. It has never worked but the passenger does. I thought I'd pop it off and check the circuit but there are two circuits. One for a dimmer I found out. Which is which please ?
  2. Yes it's 4 torx . No, in all honesty, I didnt disconnect the battery. However if that is the stated procedure, best to do that. I didn't encounter any problems though to be honest.
  3. No but whip the seat out. Remove the ratchet bit. and grab one off eBay. Should get one for a tenner or so. A small part breaks inside . Easy fix mate
  4. Far short of getting a new door loom I suppose cut solder and extend where needed. Just thought I'd put a few pictures up incase anyone else has this. Probably explains why the heated mirror stopped working too. Airbag light gone out now (But had to reset with obd2 scanner)
  5. Checked the door sensor. They looked ok as far as that goes. Decided to check the wiring in the rubber booty between the door and chassis........... Oh dear ..Wheres my soldering iron.
  6. I tried a scanner tool and it came up with this. Does it narrow it down in anyone's mind ??
  7. Hello there. I have an a3 2009. 1.9tdi with 120k on it. Yesterday the air bag light came on and stayed when I started up. Just wondered if there are any common faults or things I can try ? Many thanks
  8. Hello. I have this little a3 2009. 1.9tdie. Its had good service and now on 120k. I've had it for 4 years and it's always done this. It has a little very regular shudder when travelling along the motorway at around 60 70 mph. It's like every few seconds there's a little gentle shudder or vibration from the engine I can feel it through the seat and the steering wheel . It's definitely not wheels or the likes because if I dip the clutch and coast along it stops immediately. It doesn't do it under load. Just at a steady constant speed and I can't notice it at high or low speeds. Ring any bells to anyone?. Every else appears fine at th moment.
  9. I've tried all ways and enlisted the help of you tube. It's ridiculous. Just wondered why it wont clear. Never had this before with a car. So wondered if those cables did the trick from eBay .
  10. Anyone know how to turn the spanner light out and the words "service due" when turning off ignition
  11. Hello all I have serviced my a3 2009 tdie . I have reset the oil mileage but am unable to clear the spanner for some reason. And when I stop it politely reminds me to service the car. It appears the spanner will not budge unless anyone can advise a way to get rid of it ? I have tried pushing and pulling the dash buttons but the spanner stays up. The piglet do these work ? eBay cable Thanks all
  12. Never mind . The Jack method has done wonders. Door re levelled !!
  13. But surely would it not be better to loosen the 3 hinge star bolts and lift it a tad ?
  14. Hi all. My front driver door appears to have dropped a little bit. No idea why. I can't see if there is a proper way to adjust it up. Can anyone advise? Thanks
  15. Yes they are normal. Nothing states they are directional. I could try rotating them. It's just strange. I can detect the sound at slow speeds even 10 mph but it's quite a change crossing onto a very smooth surface at 20/30/40mph. It almost virtually dissapears then. Cross Back on to a rough tarmac and it starts howling away.
  16. Here is the tyre image. The tyres were already on the car when I had it.
  17. No, it's not a quattro. So do you mean swap the wheels side to side on the car? It's dreadful. I have to get to the bottom of it now. I thought bearings but garage guys Def said not the bearings but couldn't tell what it was. Rather not go to the expense of new tyres as they are not too old just to eliminate it.
  18. Well, I have now tried swapping the rear wheels to the front and the noise is still there exactly the same. It's a similar sound to if you blow across the top of a glass bottle quietly. Sort of. There is a particular stretch of road near me that changes from a rough surface to a new smooth surface . The change in sound is remarkable when I hit the smooth surface. It virtually dissapears. Most odd. Seems to be coming from the back somewhere. Anyone have any thoughts ?
  19. I have this humming and or roaring noise coming from we think the rear of the car. It will change quite dramatically depending on road surfaces ,quiet on smooth and roaring on a poor road but always there. The tyres are reasonably new. I have just taken it to my local garage mate. Both him and one of his mechanics took it on a drive and can both hear it but neither can pin it down. They have had it on the ramp and checked the bearings and the tyres and are stumped. Anyone have any thoughts ?
  20. That is the method we essentially used. My dad is a mechanic of old. He was the spanner man issuing destructions. The only difference was the one way valve in the pipe dropping into the Jam jar full of fluid. The brakes were perfect before I removed the abs unit for repair so I'm guessing seals are still all ok. Popped it back on the other day and commenced bleeding and the only logical conclusion is air somewhere still. Could be the one way pipe but he knows what he's doing down there.
  21. Hi. The engine was not running. We used a one way bleed pipe, I put pressure on the brake pedal then the nipple was opened so the pedal goes down. I slowly pumped up and down 7 or 8 times perhaps 10 or so. Then held down pedal then nipple locked off. All in all done each nipple 4 times now I think all the time keeping the tank topped up. A bit different to your method ??? What do you think ?
  22. Brakes are ok I just have to press the pedal a lot further down . No trouble stopping as such like that. Car stops normally. I've done it on a load of gravel now so I'll bleed and see what comes . Abs was working well for sure!
  23. Following repair of my abs ecu block, and putting in new fluid I'm having trouble getting a good brake pedal. I have bled 2 times this week and I have heard I need to cycle the abs pump as the pedal is still soft. Not having software to use computers etc I have read that I can activate the abs brakes on Grass etc to get air out of the unit and bleed off again after that. Maybe a couple times. Is this correct ? Should it work? Thanks
