Did the Audi dealer inspect the brake pads & discs or just the suspension?
Sounds like the original garage have not fitted them correctly.

Hi, new to the A6 (c8) , was wondering if anyone can tell me if the main bean assist is standard ? I’m guessing not as I haven’t the option under exterior lights within the MMI , it’s only that I had this retrofitted to my previous A5 by Audi , however I’m told it can’t be retrofitted to the A6, I thought maybe as I have the sport model and Sline model A5 that it can only be retrofitted to the Sline due to different lights unless I’m wrong . Thanks
Yeah I think you need the matrix LED lights that are only on the S-Line models and above.
Just standard LEDs on the Sport models.

I just use Google maps / Waze through Carplay now. Given up on the poor UI and address look up of the Audi maps.

Thanks for this jammy. I have just ordered a red black edition with C+S and the 40TFSI.
I'm coming from a C7 A6 BE with the 2.0 tdi 190 so im not concerned about performance.
Do you have any detail regarding economy? I'm expecting circa 10mpg less than the diesel. What's the best you can achieve on a long run being careful etc?
Again thanks for the write up above.
Hi Longy. Sorry for long response time, but due to various reasons not been very ‘social’ recently.
I’m probably not the best for asking about getting the best mpg out of a car, I very rarely drive for economy and for the last few years I would say 90% of my driving is urban.
That said, I have a few figures that I have mentally recorded since having the car.
My normal urban weekly drive sees me pretty much get 30mpg. That’s never going out of a 40mph, and majority 30mph inner city.I have driven 2 long journeys quite recently. Both approx 200mile return journeys, all of which were mainly driven on Motoryways (M62 / A1M) and with very little traiffic congestion so generally maintaining 70mph average. Both were a smidge over 40mpg.
My long term average on the MMI is currently showing 32.1mpg @ 4700 miles. So confirms above that with no real desire to drive with fuel efficiency in mind you’ll hit 30-40mpg depending on the mix of driving routes you take.
I’m pretty sure you could hit much higher than 40mpg on a long run if you really tried, it’s just not my thing.

I ordered the same last month and was given an estimated delivery month of July 22. What's been your experience with the 40TFSI? Enjoying it? I'm worried it may be underpowered
Had it a few months now and have to say I really like it. I’ve had quite a few high powered cars, Golf R, Audi S4 etc, and whilst this obviously isn’t as quick it is still isn’t a slouch. The mild hybrid adds a little torque boost early on in the rev range, which can be felt better when at lower speeds.
Gear changes are silky smooth (unlike the diesel version apparently), road noise and refinement is top class. It’s a very smooth and quiet place to be. Speed perception is very hard to judge as the cabin certainly cocoons you.
Don’t expect it to be like a hot hatch, but for a big barge it handles itself very well. It feels like a much smaller car on the road. Steering is much sharper than previous Audis I’ve owned. You can still feel it’s front heavy when pushed, but under normal driving it handles quite sharply.
The interior is superb. The dashboard and driver instruments are in a class of their own, the tech pack adds so many nice touches. The seats are the comfiest I’ve sat in. All in all a great place to be.
Any niggles, of course. Audi Pre-sense (Adaptive braking) is a pain and is over sensitive. Lane departure can’t be permanently turned off, another pain. There is an occasional rattle from the dash when travelling over slower rough ground, especially annoying as it’s pronounced in the quietness of the otherwise serene cabin.
All in all a great car, If be surprised if you don’t like it unless your expecting similar performance to an RS6.

I have an A6 Allroad 50 Tdi owned from new since March 2020 and only done about 8500 miles thanks to the plague! Driving it is fine BUT the warning systems are a complete pain! The biggest problem is the Pre Sense which has affected me initially on 5 occasions and sometimes violently applied the brakes. Since the dealer looked at it and couldn’t find anything reported but reduced the sensitivity it has appeared twice in the past two weeks but did not apply the brakes. I try to be a careful driver and these all appeared for no apparent reason. In addition, it frequently tells me to apply the brakes for no apparent reason, tells me to keep hold of the steering wheel when I am doing so and also tells me that I am not staying within the road lane markings when I am. I can find little to no reports about this sort of thing happening and have never heard of it before on any car after many years of driving. Is this a frequent fault with these cars? or is it a fault which Audi should be correcting before it cause a severe accident?
Automated breaking is a great idea in principle, I’ve had it on the last 4 cars (2 x VW, Jag and now the Audi A6).
The A6 is definitely the most keen, and has applied the brakes about 5-6 time unnecessarily in the last 3 months, albeit I could see why it did. Usually a car parked at the roadside or overtaking a bike has triggered it, but I have given plenty of room. It is verging on dangerous and frightens the life out of you when it jolts the brakes on suddenly.
Never had any problems with the Jag, or the VW Passat, but had a Golf R that was nearly as sensitive.
I’ve set everything to low sensitivity in the settings, I assume you have?
With regard to the hands on the steering and lane warning, never had any of those. Again I turn off lane departure every trip, can’t stand it.

I recently purchased a 2021 A6 Black Edition.
One of the upgrades over the S-Line was the privacy glass. The glass is very black, much more than other cars with it.

Tried in dynamic mode but not manual will try tomorrow
Dynamic mode and sport mode are different systems.
Pull the gear lever down to engage sport mode. That will enable better gear changes / profile and the car will feel more urgent. It will give you a better comparison against the normal gearbox setting.
i have mine in Dynamic mode, but engage Sport mode when I need to overtake quickly or pull out sharply.

I ordered an A6 via a lease company and was wondering who to contact or if there is any way I can track the progress of the order.
Depends on the lease company. Some don’t allow you to track directly with Audi, as they like to withhold the dealers identity.
I’ve always found the brokers that I have used give good updates regarding the build stages. My A6 was delivered a few weeks ago and I was given an email at every stage through to delivery. It was with CVL, and I’m guessing they were just relaying info from the Audi / dealer system.
Best bet is to ask your broker / lease company for regular updates.

Hi guys can u tell me what exactly do I get with the tech pack above the standard equipment apart from virtual cockpit? Is the sound system better than standard because the one I tested played really well compared to my c7 and it didn’t have B&O logo anywhere?
I have the tech pack on my 2021 C8, big difference for me was the larger top screen & VC.
just looking on the latest Audi configurator and the tech pack has disappeared. Also the Nav plus and VC now appear to be standard equipment. Worth checking out if this is now the case.

Yes it was cold but on a warm day after 5-10 min it should be warm enough. From what I can see your is 2021 model (40 tdi quattro?) and I wonder if there is some sort of software update available that you had it from new and mine will need to get done. I looked online for owners with similar experience and found something about software updates but for 50 tdi and I think this has 8 speed tip tronic box but these guys had exactly the same “problem” and a new software helped them
Could well be. I would definitely get it checked out and see if an update is available. As I said I don’t have any issues with mine albeit a newer car.
I’ve had a few VAG DSG and STronics previous to this and TBH this is probably the smoothest and least hesitant gearbox of the lot.

Did you drive the car when warm?
I don’t get any lag at all when driving once warm. It can have a very slight delay during the first couple of mins in a morning, nothing that concerns me though.

So an interesting conundrum for those following this thread or wanting to disable lane departure.
I keep getting an intermittent warning on the virtual dashboard, saying Lane Departure is not active due to license not purchased / expired.
I don’t seem to be doing anything to make this happen, but I could be inadvertently pressing / not pressing something on startup. Either way, this might be some back door into getting LD swithched off if anyone has any ideas why this might be happening?

Have you gone conventional fuel or PHEV?
I got a great deal on a 3 year lease on the 40TFSi.
Probably will be my last petrol engined car, as I reckon electric cars will start to outsell ICE by then as the tech improves.

My A6 Black Edition with Tech Pack was delivered last week, 12 weeks exactly after I ordered it.
Was promised a 12 week lead time when I ordered and it was exactly 12 weeks.

I think this article eloquently articulates my feelings about the Lane Assist settings in the new A6. It’s all about the stars!

How did you turn it off permanently - I can't find a way. It is not listed under Driver Assist which the instruction manual says it is.....?
The Lane guidance is hidden in the Driver Assist menu.
You have to go CAR -> DRIVER ASSIST -> [COG ICON (top left)]
However you can only turn off the vibration warning, not the Departure assistance (Where the steering is deflected back into lane). A bit pointless really, but it's a part win.

These videos might help
Thanks for the info, however I fear the the latest C8 A6's have extra Nanny controls as standard.
The car is a 2021 A6 Black Edition with Tech Pack.
I have had Lane guidance on other cars (including Audi, VW and Jaguar) and have been able to set the lane guidance default to OFF.
However, their seems to be 2 systems on this car. 1. Lane Guidance warning, and 2. Lane Departure.
1. Lane Guidance warning. I can turn off on the MMI under 'Drive Assist' This is the little vibration warning when you approach the edge of lane. TBH I could live with it albeit a little annoying after a while.
2. Lane Departure. This defaults to ON every time you turn the car on (regardless of turning OFF Lane guidance warning in the MMI). This is where the steering is actively controlled and turned in when you approach the edge of lane. This cannot be turned OFF (from what I can see) in the MMI. As far as I can tell the only way to turn this off is with the button on the end of the indicator stalk. It then defaults back to ON when you restart the car.
I really don't like this 'feature' and would like to find a way to turn off longer term. I get that there is a place for it, usually long stretches of A roads or motorways, but I rarely travel these roads so will spend more time manually turning it off. Not the end of the world, but I've managed 30 years of driving without it and would rather to stay that way.

Anyone actually found a way to turn it off permanently?

I’m not sure what you mean by your reply, you need to expand your response more to get the best help.
Why Audi don’t know the tolerances of the pads and discs unless you mean it’s because they aren’t genuine parts?
Are you saying you are on your third set of discs? That is very unusual for such a new model, what year and mileage is your A6?
