  1. Having spoken to several injector specialists, including United Diesels, they told me they do not refurb the early A1 injector because it is normally the solenoid that is faulty, which cannot be repaired.
  2. Sid2020, thank you for replying, yes the injectors were coded both in the standard 1234 order and after it started to run rough again we recoded using the firing order, there appears to be a lot of confusion over what order to code them, even the main people at VCDS seem to be unsure about what order to code them. Do you know what year Audi upgraded the injectors, if they did.
  3. Thank you for replying Steve, I had read online about someone who had changed the solenoids, but after searching for solenoids I found some on Alibaba or one of the other Asian businesses, it's not that I have anything against those sellers but I thought it would be better avoiding them. When I contacted a local diesel specialist they told me the injector used in the 1.6 CAYC cannot be reconditioned (apart from changing the nozzles). Unfortunately, despite being a good looking comfortable car, being 2011 it's not worth spending £1200 + VAT on a new set of injectors!!
  4. We have an A1 1.6 TDI with 110k miles, it was running very rough and was low on power, after a VCDS test we decided to change two of the injectors, on first start-up the engine was sounding great, quiet and smooth, but after a 15 miles drive the noise from the diesel knock from the engine is really loud. We have always driven 2 or 3 litre Audis and B** 320 which have been quiet, Is this 1.6 CAYC diesel just a noisy engine by design?
  5. Has anyone changed the solenoid on a 2011 1.6 TDi, I have removed an injector, which is not working, when I removed the solenoid and connected it to a battery it wasn't working, I tried to move / remove the center plunger but it appears to be seized solid. Has anyone had that same fault or have seen a stuck plunger. My solenoid is a Continental (which I would take with a large pinch of salt) Is there a reliable brand of solenoid or a brand to avoid?
  6. Thank you Steve, I'll get the VCDS plugged in and have a look for it.
  7. 2011 A1 1.6 TDi, I am presuming the RPM should automatically increase when moving off (anti stall I think). My daughters car doesn't increase the RPM and is quite easy to stall. There are no fault codes and no lights on, has anyone had this problem or have any idea what might be wrong?
  8. I am presuming your A3 is a manual Just to gather some info, when your A3 hits the speed where the noise happens the engine will be at a certain revs e.g. 3000 rpm, if you keep the car in a lower gear but rev the engine to the same speed does the noise happen?
  9. I live in Co. Down N. Ireland, we bought this 2015 A5 1.8 TFSi 8 speed auto Black Edition for our daughter. I have been a mechanic for 40 years 20 of them in my own successful business.
