  1. Hi sorry for late reply, I still haven't sorted it mate and it's still doing my head in. Cars a proper money pit wish we hadn't bought it tbh. One thing after another, got steering rack to do now ffs. I think the door handles just go out of alignment somehow from all the lifting, I'm going to remove it soon and try another 2nd hand one. Will report back. Atb
  2. Yes mate It was just what I thought, the water outlet flange hose connector piece that bolts to the side of the cylinder head. O ring was leaking slightly. It was brittle as hell broke off plastic with hose 🙄
  3. Hi cliff it's definitely red coolant (sweet to the taste) we've had the coolant level display on dash sometimes after a week or so. Level drops just below min level to trigger the alarm. Theres a small puddle right at the top of the gearbox that dries up so muxy be something around the thermostat/heater hoses. I have once noticed a small puddle on the ground nearer the front of engine so could also be radiator related possibly. I'm going to remove the air box etc. To get a closer look.
  4. Hi guy's hope all safe and well. Our 2009 a3 2.0t (ea888) quattro seems to be loosing a small amount of coolant over a week or so. I've noticed a small puddle on top of the gearbox which I assume is coming from the thermostat housing or pipework. But I can't feel any wetness directly above the gearbox. Maybe only leaks when cooled down? Is this a common area for leaks does anyone know before I start tearing it down? All the best.
  5. Cheers for the reply Cliff, the battery on my skoda is literally a few months old so il give that a bash first. Im going to need to purchase a new one either way.
  6. No worries Steve cheers for the reply mate. Tbh the battery is a little weak, bought this car to replace my octavia vrs tdi, realy glad I've kept it for now lol. Was going to pinch the HD battery off that anyway. Just seems strange this has happened after disconnecting the battery of which I usually do when doing maintenance.
  7. That's correct cliff just the column changed not the whole rack. Strange one, car drives perfectly.
  8. Hi guy's. Just replaced the steering column on my 2009 8p quattro due to play in the shaft. I disconnected the battery whilst doing this. Put it all back together (job went realy well tbf) no more play in the steering but went for a drive and noticed the PRNDS lights flashing when in gear. Drives perfectly as before no issues selecting gears. After a quick browse I've read all the mechatronic horror stories, surely it aint that. It is due a dsg fluid change soon but surely something just wants reseting? I have a non vcds scan tool which shows no faults. Any help would be most appreciated guys. All the best.
  9. Hi Guy's just bought myself an 8p quattro. Lovely thing apart from the drivers door handle cover plate rubbing away the paintwork. Seems to be a common issue. Can anybody recommend a solution to this? Is it the cover plate of fitted correctly or do I need to replace the entire handle unit? All the best guys👊
