Air con condenser replacement
Sorry for the delay in posting back. I had it regassed & it was doing the same thing. More recently I had to fit a new belt tensioner, alternator clutch pulley & belt. I think this has been causing my AC not to be fully efficient. I'll take it out tomorrow & see if the AC behaves itself consistently.

Drive belt tensioner failed
I'm following up to my own post in case anybody searches for it & needs some answers & it's polite IMO. Yet again my drive/serpentine/fan belt had an issue. It jumped off this time due to a badly failed tensioner. I took it back to my local VAG indy, Chris Umpleby, & he confirmed the tensioner had a fit & fell apart. It half chewed & subsequently threw the belt. He also diagnosed a clutch pulley on the alternator was bad. Anyway, all this was replaced & it made me wonder if the bad tensioner & the bad pulley could have an affect on the AC compressor & how consistently it works. If the belt pressure alternates from having slow to a normal amount of tension due to failed components, would the AC be hit & miss? Which in all honesty, it has been hit & miss recently. I only got the car back today & I haven't had the AC on. Hopefully the new belt, tensioner & clutch pulley will contribute to making the AC work efficiently. There is refigerent in the system because it does blow cold but I noticed when on a very recent long journey at higher speeds the AC did not blow as cold as expected. I suspect the belt was slipping causing the compressor to not engage properly?? I'll post again after I drive it for a prolonged period.

Old front discs
Hi All, As most don't follow up on posts & its been a few months since swapping my front discs, I thought I'd do the right thing & give an honest update. The relatively cheap Audura discs & pads from Europarts, that I fitted, are very performing very well with absolutely no issues, no brake judder & they stop the car exactly as they should. I would recommend this particular brand especially if one is on a budget.

Hi All, Does anybody know if switching out interior lights to LED's would bring up a canbus error? Thanks

Buy a 2007 A4, A6 Avant or later A6 2011 Avant pointers
I've been looking at trying to get info on DPF's & how they work on the 2.0 170 tdi. Where they are in relation to the engine & if anyone has any experience with issues but I have had very little to no joy. All the issues seem to be with the C7. I've recently changed jobs & I'm doing more miles in my C6. I've noticed a couple of regens recently, no lights, just a change in engine tone & the fan coming on. I have the service book but no owners manual so I have no idea what advice is given by Audi regarding driving style etc. I try to coast on the downhill stretches on motorways & longer journeys & I don't high rev when driving in general. It would be good if more C6 diesel drivers chipped in.

A6 MMI 3G adding options for Bluetooth
Hi, there is a way to unlock the hidden green menu to be able to switch auxiliary on & enable the plug in blue tooth 'dongle'. I did it last week. You download a script put it on a sd card plug it in & follow the instrutions. Google 'hidden audi green menu without vcds'.

Snapped aux belt
Yeah, not good. Very unlucky.

Snapped aux belt
Exact same thing happened to me in July. My belt had disintegrated & fortunately fell in pieces onto the under tray. It cost me £70 at Chris Umpelby's VAG indy garage in Bradford for a new belt. Very Lucky.

MMI Upgrade for iphone
I bought the bluetooth version plugged it in the back of the nav player & it currently flashes blue, is there anything that anybody knows of that needs to be done to make it work?

MMI Upgrade for iphone
Hi guys, thanks for getting my hopes up, briefly!!! I've just checked & I have no such extra plug in the top of my glove box.... devastated.... I do have a small blanking square which looks like it can removed to position the plug in the photos you very kindly uploaded. How can the systems be so different? Can anybody else explain why some have the plug & others don't? Is there something which can be added. I ha

Drive belt tensioner failed
My local VAG independent, Chris Umpleby fitted a new belt & confirmed no issues & no damage. Just an old belt that had split into slivers & failed due to being old...

Drive belt tensioner failed
Update, I've just inspected & found the V belt to have split in half & snapped. It looked to be in pretty bad shape. Its been squealing a bit recently & the AC was regassed two weeks prior & has been on most of the time putting more strain on an already old & 'past it' V belt. I'll get a new one fitted & report my findings back.

Drive belt tensioner failed
Hi, 2011 2.0 tdi 170, Has anybody suffered from a failed drive belt tensioner? First thing that happened to me was loss of power steering, then a minute later a warning came up saying the battery was not being charged & a battery symbol flashes on & off. I haven't checked the belt yet but it points to this being the problem. If anybody has managed to sort the problem please let me know what you did & if it can be done easily enough as DIY project.

Avoid water in the car...!
I think its a build up of leaf debris not cleaned regular enough and once broken down clogs up any drainage holes. It does it in the boot area on either side & if not cleaned especially in the spring time builds up.

Water damage to drivers side

Buy a 2007 A4, A6 Avant or later A6 2011 Avant pointers
The only let down is the sound system... no dab & no way of connecting a phone to play music. Other than that I'm happy... they are one of the nicest looking saloons on the road... imo & the boot is ridiculously spacious..

Buy a 2007 A4, A6 Avant or later A6 2011 Avant pointers
I have had a 2011 C6 2.0tdi 170 le mans for 3 years now & its just passed 165k. Its due an oil & filter change but the exhaust tips are spotless, 100% cleaner than a petrol equivalent. Straight through all 3 MOT's. Advisory on the front discs on the last one which have been changed. No complaints from me...

Water damage to drivers side
I would say get it dried out & find somebody who can run a diagnostic scan.. probably followed by a chat with an auto electrian... Its not something that has happened to me, but its what I would do. Hopefully it will dry out along with any electrical gremlins.. Good Luck

Air con condenser replacement
Good to hear you got it fixed, its interesting how some garages try it on.. the problem I have is my AC blows frigid air intermittantly & I get the foisty whiff when switching back from AC to normal so that tells me its intermittant. It's not blowing warm air for sure just not the frigid air it should. I can only assume the gas is low & so a gas recharge is booked for Saturday morning, £42 through Groupon. I had it regassed a couple of years ago & no leaks were detected then. We're supposed to regas every 2 years so I can only guess it's due again. I'll post the results regardless.

Good informative topic/post this is, Easy question to answer.... has the facelift C6 got the same drainage issues under the windscreen scuttle/cowel cover thingy?
