  1. Hi All My 2015 Audi A6 s tronic 7 speed gearbox was serviced at the main dealer last week , while they were changing the oil they said the seal had a leak so had to do extra work rather than a regular gearbox oil change, total bill came to €900 . I checked under the car today 7 days later and notice a bolt missing , i dont exactly know what this bolt is holding but I assume its supposed to be there . I will be contacting them back on Monday to tell them but in the meantime can anybody tell me what this part is and will I get away with it for a few days considering thete is another bolt at the other side holding the part in position. Thanks
  2. Hi All I dropped my car to main dealer earlier for work they are doing tomorrow. When I was there I was told there's a campaign open on my car for a ' S software update on engine control modual ' i got home a tried checking it out but cant find much online , all I could find on this update was bad , alot of people saying its causing problems with EGR and DPF and adblu pumps . Its a slightly different number to the campaign I got called for but its all I can find . The campaign number is 123Wa , wonder does anybody have info on this and if so should I avoid it or go ahead with update . I'm attaching details of the campaign . Thanks in advance
  3. Hey all Have an annoying issue , my mmi sound stops working from time to time , i have to turn off car and unplug the leads from the amplifier in the boot for around 10 min and then reconnect and it works again . Has anybody else has this issue , is there a better way to fix this without having to unplug everything ? turning mmi off and on doesn't work . Thanks

  5. My concern was did the bearing fail over working on the cv joint , or did they damage it doing the cv , is this a common, should the bearing and cv be done together
  6. There's a SKF bearing going in , one was put in on other side 55k ago and still perfect.
  7. But unfortunately the wheel bearing on the side has gone bad in the 2 weeks since the cv joint was changed, coincidence or was damaged during the cv joint saga , either way its going in for a new wheel bearing tomorrow. The joys of a 10 year old A6 !!! Regards
  8. Yes its resolved, they replaced the outer cv joint again , they think the 1st one was faulty out of the box . Regards
  9. No problem Gareth , im sure your probably right , as I tell people I consider myself " an optimistic pessimist " Im optimistic that it will always go wrong ! 😀
  10. I have checked the wheel for any sort of play , and will be doing daily , its the only mode of transport I have to work , so yes I will be driving ot for the next 2 weeks . I never said its perfectly fine , but it is a necessity. Ive also had 2 different mechanics check it and they both reassure me that its only after starting and its mild enough noise with zero play it will be fine for the next couple of weeks of driving .

  12. The culprit finally started revealing 20250620_211359.mp4 20250620_211359.mp4 itself , front passenger side wheel bearing noising when wheel spinning with traction control off, so was able to spin wheel fast enough . It is the same side that the cv joint was done on last month . Weather the bad cv damaged the bearing or it was damaged when the cv was being installed, either way I finally found the problem , its being changed in 2 weeks , just have to limp on until then . 20250620_211359.mp4 20250620_211359.mp4
  13. Ya B rated for noise
  14. Just back from garage , defo wheel bearing not sure if right or left , can't hear it spinning wheels by hand , but right was done last year so I think its the left same side as cv joint was replaced on . Being done in 3 weeks , said its safe out to drive until then no play in wheels.
  15. Ha ha thanks that sounds very encouraging!
  16. Ya there is definitely a noise there while driving , faint but there. Think its my OCD telling me its the worst thing ever ,like differential or transmission humming , when it could be just a wheel bearing on the way out . Its a case of wait and see if suppose.
  17. I think it might be slightly louder when steering right , so im thinking left hand bearing , only very slightly louder , to be honest if the radio is on you'd hardly hear it , so im thinking its only getting rough rather than gone . Its booked in for a service in 3 weeks so im hoping it should last until then . At least now I know its not the tyres , the tyre shop gave the 2 that were on the car a good check and confirmed that the tyres weren't the problem, so my garage wants to check it tomorrow to confirm but won't be able to do the job until 3 weeks time . To be honest I've had bearings in the past that would drown out the radio . The noise stays while coasting so it shouldn't be a gearbox bearing as its there with no load and the gearbox is acting very normal , so im thinking for sure wheel bearing .
  18. Off to garage in morning!
  19. Update , 2 new tyre on front, so new tyres all around , still humming . So my only other thinking is a wheel bearing, on same side as the cv joint was changed on .
  20. Getting new tyres tomorrow and gonna move the odd ones to the back . Gonna try for a mid range to premium brand , depending on cost !
  21. Would the unmatched at the back not make the humming also ?
  22. I was hoping video would give an idea of what it was , you can really hear it at 31 seconds in .
  23. I would apart from the fact that they are getting close to end of life thread getting low and would rather the deeper thread on the front.
  24. Hankook the other wheels , like I said I had a blowout and that tyre was the only one available at that time .
  25. My initial thoughts on the noise was that it had something to do with the outer cv joint that was changed as it started within 2 weeks of the job being done , but I have never heard of a bearing or humming noise from a cv joint . It was too much of a coincidence in my mind , but I suppose coincidences do happen after all . Thanks for all yer replies gang , as always ye were very helpful.
