A6 avant - leaking - rear footwell
I think the water ingress occurs from the OSF wheelarch - the TSB covers this. Then it has no way of draining. @MarkW57 Audi have replacement self draining bungs. It might be worth asking your garage whether then can source them. @Livia - I got lucky as I noticed it immediately after buying the car so the garage I bought it from offerred to fix it. They basically had to do it otherwise I would have just given the car back. Must have been a £6k job as they had the car on the ramp drying out for nearly 2 weeks, replaced the carpets, ensured the electrics were OK etc. As well as following the TSB. It isn't really acceptable that they won't fix this as it is clearly an issue across a lot of models (not just the A6) and the fact that they have a TSB means that they know of the problem, have identified a fix and train their techs on it. As I said on my original post, I had problems with my A4 that I had before the A6. High oil usage due to incorrect piston rings. There was a TSB on that too and a US class action lawsuit, but my local garage still had to go to Audi UK to get the work authorised. It was out of warranty, but I had always had it serviced at the main dealer, so they felt some obligation. I have been lucky, but also persistent. I wish you luck - keep pushing. Ultimately even if you do have to pay something, it will be better than being stuck with a car that you cannot sell. Another possible option - you could tell them that you want to trade in your car for a different one. Then, when they discount the trade-in price because of the water ingress you can use that to argue that they should fix it?

Audi know what the issue is, and how to fix it. There is a TSB in the US. It's shocking that they do not honour requests to fix it imho. I would advise anyone with the issue to contact their local dealer, and request that they fix it, with assistance from Audi UK.

Might be worth trying to identify and fix the source of the water ingress too. The TSB posted above covers this. Also, check the gutter at the bottom of the windscreen. Mine was full of old leaves and the drain holes were blocked. Some people claim thus is a possible source of ingress. In my case, details of the repair were light but they did say that water was getting in behind the wheel arch, which fits with the tsb. I think the sales guy was just happy the workshop fixed it and didnt ask for detail. I had only just purchased the car, as an approved used Audi, from a dealer and threatened to return it if it wasn't fixed which gave me some leverage. Good luck with gettng it fixed!

Audi A6 B8 fuel sensor recall
Filled my car up with fuel today, but the fuel gauge was only showing half full. It gradually crept up to 3/4s full during the drive home. Clearly a fuel sensor fault and there appears to have been a recall issued. Does anyone here know more?

Great letter. Fwiw, my previous car was a 2010 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI. It had the high oil usage problem that was caused by mis-specced piston rings. There was also a TSB and class action suit on that. The usage level needed to get to 1 litre / 1000 km before Audi would look at it (!) I wrote a v similar letter to Audi UK, sent via my local dealer, and they agreed to fix it despite the car being out of warranty. Very good of them. £6k engine out job. Good luck!

Audi fixed mine under warranty. It was quite a big job as they had to ensure all the water was drained out. Took a couple of weeks! I would not want to be paying for it personally, and you should not have to. It is a common fault due to poor design.

A6 avant - leaking - rear footwell
@mandeep Identical symptoms to my car. I'd only recently purchased mine as an Approved Used Audi and it was rectified by the dealer eventually. They did not share much detail, but mentioned that the source of the water was in fact from under the wheel arch, and that the problem is rectified by fitting self draining bungs. You have no hope of removing all of the water with your vac as it sits in all of the cavities under the floor. Over time this will cause a mouldy smell in the car if not rectified. It is a big job, as all of the water must be removed from the car, and its possible that trim, carpets and any water damaged components will need to be replaced. This is why Audi will not acknowledge it. Perhaps the community on here, the fact that there is a class action suit and that Audi almost certainly have a TSB about it will persuade them to listen. Failing that I'd go to a consumer organisation like Which? and see whether they would be prepared to act.

Same same?

Similar issues on the A5 perhaps? The comments there suggest Audi are charging customers to resolve it, which is pretty shocking as it is obviously a design fault.

Looking at that video there is definitely something that could be done about it. Just redesign and insert some replacement drains. In my case, if the dealer can't sort it I will return the car for a refund. It has been in their workshop for 2 weeks now (!) Audi UK must be aware of this and need to do something about it. Similar unaddressed issues in the past have resulted in class action lawsuits. The A4 B8 had incorrectly specced piston rings between 2009-2011, which resulted in excessive oil usage. Audi refused to deal with the problem until a US-led class action lawsuit changed their mind. Let's hope that they are more proactive this time.

As I understand it the water gets in through the air inlet, into the heating system and out through the vents under the seat. I'll see what the dealer says...

Just wondering, was this the problem? I have a 2019 A6 with a wer floor. Only just bought it. It's going back to the dealer to get fixed, but I found a lot of leaves and crud under the windscreen. Looks like the previous owner parked it under a tree.

A6 avant - leaking - rear footwell
I just bought a 2019 A6 Avant and same issue. The offside rear footwell had about 1/2 an inch of water in it earlier today. The Audi dealer I bought it from is investigating, have read elsewhere that there is a TSB for it so hoping to get it sorted. Will post an update here when I have it.
