  1. Thanks again guys, how can i find out if i have a chain or a belt? R1gger
  2. Many thanks for the advice. When i get the garage to replace the serpentine belt should they also change the timing belt? R1gger
  3. Happy New Year to you all. I have a problem in that my serpentine belt has shredded. I was fortunate enough that it failed while i was outside my house waiting for someone so no major drama. However, i am now unsure whether it is saft to try to 'limp' round to my local garage (about 1/2 a mile) or if it is safer to call them out to tow me round. I would appreciate any advice provided R1gger
  4. Many thanks Steve. I'll give it a bash, doesn't appear to hard 🙂
  5. Well l did buy the A6 S-Line and have been driving it over in Germany for over a year now - it is a lovely drive and just eats up the miles 😊 However, I still have not been able to get it through a TUV. I took it to an Audi main dealer who reprogrammed the headlights to point to the other side and I now get a warning light telling me the headlights are "out of range". Then went for the TUV and it failed as the lightes were still pointing to the left (the guy even showed me when I told him Audi had converted them for me). Took the car back to Audi who spent 3 hours checking everything only to tell me that they did not recognise the headlight unit Part Numbers fitted to my car and questioned if it has ever been in a crash, which it hasn't! So I am now looking on line as to how difficult it is to replace the headlight units and there appears to be 2 different types. One type requires the whole bumper to come off while the other can be done relatively easily So my question is - has anyone experience of replacing A6 S-Line headlight units and how difficult was it? Many thanks in advance.
  6. Hi I am thinking of buying an A6 and driving it in Germany. Can anyone advise how I can find out if the headlights need to changed for a TUV (MOT) or if there is a clever switch mechanism to enable them to be adapted to driving on the "wrong" side of the road? Many thanks for any advice provided.
  7. Hi there i wonder if anyone out there can help me. I've recently moved to Germany and i want to fit Left Drive Headlights to my right hand drive 2003 A4 Avant. Is it as simple as just buying some second hand units and replacing them? or are there complications due to other engine components being in the way? Many thanks for your help
  8. Hi there i've recently bought an Audi A4 estate and it's a great car - but sure you all know that already! I've just noticed that the brakes have started to lose the ability to stop the car if they are used several times in rapid succession - no problems at all if you just stand on them, the car stops immediately. Problem is when you use them constantly to slow down and then want to bring the car to a complete stop you really need to stand on them (pedal feels like the system needs bleeding). I took the car to KwikFit thinking it may just be air in the system (didn't really believe it could be as i'd not disturbed it so how could air get in!). When KwikFit fitter said car had to go to Audi to and suggested it may be related to the vacuum - any ideas/suggestions? obviously i'm reluctant to take it to Audi but i also need to have confidence the brakes are going to do the job!
