I just got confirmation from Audi that all A5 models come with mild-hybrid technology.
Unfortunately this is a deal-breaker for me as I was planning to keep this car for over 10 years and the cost to fix a possible problem with that system is usually way too high.
Most of these Audis are not as "hybrid" as other brands, they do not run electric-only and certainly are not plug-in. They are just for coast and quick start-stop.
In which case, to protect the battery, just switch off the start-stop. You can even permanently do that (either via OBD, or via a widget).

Yeah I already reached out to Opie and they suggested some oils (interestingly their website engine did not have details, but their support was good).
But my question remains, as it was not what is the right oil for my car, but where is the information.
I find it odd that Audi UK do not routinely put the information somewhere for the driver to find.
Looking at US forums you can see that they have the information under the bonnet.

Hello,
Can anyone confirm where their sticker is for this vehicle type?
I know that it is common to find under the hood. Either on the radiator cover, or on the underneath of the bonnet. I also checked the fuel sticker.
In the manual it only says in a cryptic way that you should check with your dealer, or otherwise you can top up 1ltr of 504 or 508 in an emergency.
I had assumed the EA888 Gen3B would be 0w20 only, but 504 would suggest otherwise.

I'm getting around 25-30 with town/short journey driving, 40-45 ish on the motorway. TFSI 40 A4 Avant. Thirstier than my previous B8 TDI 2.0 A4 Saloon but it's also automatic which the old car wasn't.
As they are not torque converting automatics, but are automated (dual) clutch based cars, do we still expect a hit vs manual?

The 10th letter of your VIN is supposed to tell you year of manufacture.
In my case the 10th letter is an L, suggesting 2020. However the Build info says 2019...

Yep that was the date I was after and yes they sent me one for my car.
Date was Nov 2019.
From the earlier discussion we (you guys) seem to think the 2021 registration date is not too unusual a gap from build to registration.
So how does VIN work, if the sticker in the car and the build record show 2019, how is the VIN showing 2020 "L"?

So the challenge of being in London is that there maybe showrooms, but a local parts window might be harder to find.
I got a report like this attached via a contact for my vehicle. Is that what would be covered by a build record, or would I get even more detail?

On a good run including a good chunk of motorway and country lane driving, before back into the city my 40 TFSI can get 45mpg. That same route with more traffic in places and a heavier foot in others still is almost 40 mpg.
In traffic at crawling speed which we suffer often, it can be below 20 on a short drive.
What are you getting?

Hi Gareth,
On my request I did write BUILD RECORD. The Head of business picked up and dropped of the car, but he said he was busy, so left it with the Service Mgr.
I also wrote that please ask the Parts Dept or Service team for this information.
Next to that they wrote Vehicle Specification + Digital service history. Incidentally, they printed the correct service history (but I can get that from myAudi) but I've now noted that the Spec is not for this car!!

We love it. Handling is lovely, looks great, practical boot.
2 issues, both which a change of driving style I hope will minimise:
- wheelspin from stationary (especially if joining from a sharp bend slip-road, though it can occur even at a cross-roads)
- slight delay in throttle response when you want to "nip" between cars at a junction (not sure if this is the Stronic box, the throttle mapping or what)
Not sure about mpg yet.
How about you?

@Broadband007bond I got the same snapshot version as you!
Wireless Carplay does not seem to be activated, even thought I asked them to check for 5Ghz wifi networks.
Mine is a March 21 registered MY2020 car, built way back in 2019 (which I wish they told me).
Keep me posted in June if you still get map updates, as mine does not get any, so the last one is Feb 2024.

Hi @Magnet, My car was at the dealership for a s/w update.
I asked for the build list, but all I got when they returned the car is a printout of the optional extras, which they called the vehicle spec along with the service history (not sure why).

Hi all,
Just bought an approve used A5. Registered in March 2021, but it is a MY2020 and looking at the boot sticker, I think 2019 built. The VIN number suggests 2020 though (10th digit is an L).
So I am a little disappointed this was not better flagged by the dealer. I don't think the salesperson knows, they just know it was registered in March 21 and have shared its ownership and service history from that point, but the myAudi app shows that it was delivered to an Audi UK dealer in H2 2020.
Surely that is a LONG period not to have registered the car?
Anyone have experience or thoughts about any potential concerns?

Underpowered?
in Audi A5 Club
The box on these Audis is generally terrible for a swift off the line experience, but from 20 to whatever you fancy is going to be a quick as you'd imagine from this engine.
