  1. Hi Cliff, no the back seat is bolted in from the boot.
  2. Thanks Steve, I think she is stuck with the DAB radio. I might see if I can just buy a single CD player and have it fitted by an auto electrician.
  3. I am about to purchase a 2015 TT s line for my partner. The display is all digital including selecting DAB radio stations. This terrifies her and she just wants the radio/CD player from her 2012 Golf. Can an analogue radio and CD player be retro fitted in place of the DAB radio in the TT?
  4. Hi Larry, I have done that but still have the intermittent warning, and I can't find any Audi dealer that will code out the warning light. We can land men on the Moon but it is seemingly mission impossible to code out the warning light.
  5. Regarding the boot lock and having to use a key. Mine was the same but I think the previous owner had been using the key for sometime. The day after I bought the car, I tried to unlock the boot with the key, it wouldn't open and the key was stuck in the lock. An auto locksmith managed to remove the key but the lock 'wafers' were broken and I needed to get a new lock from Ebay. It is the solenoid which costs a few pounds that was faulty but to replace the lock and solenoid, the garage had to remove the rear number plate and cut a hole in the boot lid to release the boot to replace the lock and solenoid then re-weld the hole in the boot lid. A cautionary tale for a job that should have been an hour and a few pounds but ended up a day and a couple of hundred pounds.
  6. I had a front brake caliper replaced and the brake fluid replaced. The fault has never reappeared.
  7. Hi Steve, after some more research, I believe the reason why the seat back becomes lose is because the lower fixed lumbar support collapses and has to be replaced. These are the part numbers I found on Audi sport net. Part numbers: Lumbar support: 8E0-881-891 Seat repair kit: 8E0-898-035 Apparently, the lumbar support is about £50 and the seat repair which is all the clips is about £10. If I'm honest, I was looking for a cheap fix without having to remove anything, but this fix just got bigger and more involved. I will save up for a professional trimmer to overhaul the drivers seat because the side bolster is also getting tatty.
  8. Hi Steve, is a nylon trim remover, a remover made of nylon for removing trim, or a remover designed for removing nylon trim? Forgive my ignorance but I just don't know. Greg
  9. Everytime I push the seat back into place, it becomes unclipped whenever I sit on the seat. I was going to remove the seat back to take a look at the clips. When I watched a YouTube video, the fella just messed around the top bit with a screwdriver, cursing at the top clips until it was forced off. There has to be a better way than this surely.
  10. The mechanic says he checked for that when the pads were replaced, because that's when this whole saga started.
  11. OK, I will put some feelers out for one in the Wrexham area.
  12. Hi Steve, that's been discounted because the fault would show constantly and not intermittently. Today for instance had the OK until I completed a sharp right turn at the end of my road, and the warning light came on again and stayed on. That's why I want it coding out, but there seems to be an issue of software incompatibility because of the age of the car.
  13. Ever since the front pads and discs were replaced over a year ago, I have had an intermittent worn pads warning. Just after the pads and discs were replaced, the warning light illuminated constantly for a week or so, but then gradually reduced to rarely on. Recently, I had the drivers side front wheel bearing replaced, and the worn pads warning light has reappeared. I had an electrical engineer attempt to code out the light, but the cars software is too old for his software, and it's not possible to degrade to older software. Thankfully, the warning light is illuminating much less, if it follows the historical pattern, it should only light up after a full lock turn. My mechanics think it's not a wiring fault because it's so intermittent and is more likely an issue with the ABS pump or ECU. I am still pushing for the light to be coded out, but have hit a brick wall. Has anyone got any ideas?
  14. Thanks Steve, I have heard that about batteries. I will start with a diagnostic check first. I just thought my car might be too old for this to be part of the diagnosis checks.
  15. If I leave the windows down without any power for while, when I select them all to the closed position, the drivers door window fully closes, but then opens without being selected to about 1/3 of the way down. It will do this until I select open and closed but hold the switch in those positions for around 10 seconds. Even then, it may not stay closed until a few re-sets have been completed. Any thoughts anyone?
  16. I was hoping to find an amiable car upholstery firm that might do the fitting, but so far it's a no! Mainly because they have never done this type of repair.
  17. https://youtu.be/R9zGH9KOUYA?si=k0Fqd_SzBwwTkyPB Hi Cliff This chap appears to be an 'expert' and mentions the glue idea, but warns against the stains it causes.
  18. Hi Gareth, the video's I have seen show a self tapping screw being fitted first, this has a base plate which stops the material from twisting around the screw. The material button then fits to the plate.
  19. Thank for the video, however, I am disabled and can't remove this myself. I had it costed at well over £500. So the buttons on a 22 year old car at less than £10 v £500 is a no brainer for me. I have seen pictures of vehicles other than Audi's with this fix, but can't seen to find out if it's possible to fit the screws into the roof shell e.g. if it's a cardboard composite or is it fiberglass.
  20. I don't want the expense of removing the rear window to get to the roof lining. Nor did I want your opinion on what it might look like. I just needed to know if anyone had done this type of fix previously.
  21. Has anyone used these repair 'buttons' (see link below) to fix a saging roof lining. I just need to know if it works on an Audi of any description. https://www.fruugo.qa/headliner-repair-button-universal-car-roof-fabrics-nylon-fit-compatible-for-all-carscheck-clothbeige/p-255109155-554160885?language=en
  22. Too late, foots already off!
  23. I found out why my foot kept catching on the footrest. The footrest screw was missing and the cover had become loose, thus fouling on my trainer.
  24. I never use the footrest, and it only serves to catch my shoe to prevent me from operating the clutch pedal. Before I remove it for ever, I wondered if anyone knew if there is carpet underneath the footrest?
  25. The boot release lock servo solenoid are not the most robust on the Audi A4.
