  1. When the car came back from the original (rejected) repair I took note of the clips the body-shop had used. They were very similar to those I found on eBay too, but ultimately I didn't buy because of insurance claim. The original repair wasn't to my liking, too many gaps between panels and lights, so hopefully getting it back for a second time tomorrow, completely repaired this time.
  2. Thanks Gareth I did a wee search first but "bonnet clips" didn't appear. Online shopping sites threw up lots of different types of "clip" so was checking to see if anyone had purchased these before (it is a strange thing to break). As it turns out the damage behind the grille on the car was slightly worse than I thought so it'll need to go to a garage for repair anyway and they can fit the clips at the same time. Cheers, Alan
  3. Good afternoon all, Having had a little bump this afternoon that caused some damage behind the grille, I've noticed on opening the bonnet that the trim, usually attached to the underside of the bonnet, is detached. I think the impact pushed the grille back slightly, causing the trim clips to shear. The trim itself seems fine, it's just no longer attached. Does anyone know the part number for the clips or if there is a generic clip that would let me reattach the trim. Many thanks, Alan
  4. Many thanks again.
  5. Evening Gareth - none to date as I've been away on a few trips. Car is running normally but I will replace the battery before Autumn / Winter. I did have a follow up question - is it likely a local independent VW/Audi/Skoda garage could replace/recode the battery, rather than going back to the dealership (Edinburgh Audi)? Thanks
  6. Many thanks for the quick response and YouTube clip. Cheers
  7. Evening all, My Audi A5 (35TDI) just passed its MOT with two advisories - one tyre related and one "battery suspect low". The first is easy to rectify but on searching for a replacement battery I've seen a few mentions of having to recode the car to the new battery e.g. "otherwise the alternator will treat it as the old battery"? Previous cars have simply been take old battery out, put new one in. Does the A5 really have to be coded? Is this another trip to the main dealer? Thanks for any assistance.
  8. Good evening all - I meant to post a final response to the Auto-hold issue. During its last service Audi did a diagnostic check and couldn't find anything wrong. The technician suggested we take the car of a drive (he came with me) and we tested the auto-hold and it worked! Now I'm not mechanically (or electronically) minded but whether their diagnostic check reset something its been working fine since the car was returned to me. So no real "solution" as such but the A5 is now working correctly. Cheers
  9. Thanks - good to know I can't diagnose it myself. Will let you know after the trip to Edin Audi. Cheers
  10. Evening - I've had my A5 S Line for a few months now and so far enjoying the experience. However recently the "Autohold" has started to disengage without me touch the accelerator. Usual sequence as an example: Approach traffic lights Stop and green Autohold engages, green A comes on As soon as I take my foot off the brake car immediately restarts and begins to crawl forward Have to keep my foot on the brake This doesn't appear to be a setting in, for instance, driver assist but seems to be something that has possibly failed. Its a real pain, especially on hill starts. Car is due in Edinburgh Audi shortly for a brake fluid change and if its something that needs to be looked at I can add it to the work sheet. Any thoughts or previous experience of this issue? Many thanks, Alan
  11. I always preferred "driving" the car my way but I suppose if you've been driving an automatic for many years it just becomes second nature. So far I'm enjoying the experience.
  12. Evening all and Merry Christmas. Not my first Audi (TT Roadster) but just returned to the brand with an A5 35 TDI S-Line. My Passat CC did 196k miles so we will see how this one gets on. This is also my first switch to an automatic - feel like I'm getting old! 🙂 Cheers, Alan
