  1. Have the garage/mechanic investigate the possibility that the dual mass fly wheel is starting to fail.
  2. When I switch to Dynamic, the steering feels noticeably tighter and the car feels steadier on motorways but I tend to leave it in Auto and forget it.

  5. Nice car, what do you like about it? Mine is really quiet compared to my VW Tiguan.
  6. I haven’t actually done this route but it’s on my bucket list. Whilst I don’t have the benefit of a 1963 DB5, my Audi at least has an ‘AU’ in it. This is the route James Bond takes in the novel ‘Goldfinger’ where he follows Auric Goldfinger to his factory. Some modern roads have replaced the 1950’s ones but it is as close as I can work it out. Le Touquet to Abbeville on the D940 and D901 about 40 miles. Abbeville on the D928 to Neufchatel-en-Bray then the D6015 to Rouen - about 109 miles. Leave Rouen and drive 34 miles to Evreux on the D840. Then Evreux to Dreux on the D613 about 34 miles again. Leave Dreux and drive 22 mile on the D928 to Chartres. Chartres to Orleans - 56 miles on the D955 and have an overnight stop - same as in the book. Day 2: 121 miles on the D2007 from Orleans to Nevers. then 34 miles from Nevers to Moulins on the D2007. leave Moulins on the D779 then D906 to Macon - about 100 miles. Macon to Bourg-en-Bresse on the D906 for 40 miles then 25 miles to Pont-d’Ain on the D1084 then 71 miles on the D1084 then D984 to Geneva then 9 miles in Switzerland on the Route de Lausanne to Coppet where Goldfingers factory was supposed to be.

  8. That’s good to know. I’m reading all sorts of horror stories on here. My 2013 Tig has done 150K plus and apart from tyres etc only needed a replacement rear suspension which was a result of me driving it across a stream. I’m hoping my Audi will be as solidly built.

  10. Mostly matchbox, hotwheels, greenlight etc purchased as is, with many modified ones (like the I, Robot Audi) and a few scratchbuilt. The Plymouth Fury from Christine is a straight purchase for example but the Darnells Garage is scratch-built. Mostly 1:64 scale.

  18. Hi Booom, I got my first Audi about a week ago and still getting used to it. So far I am really liking it - I had an issue whereby I would lock the door with the key, the car would lock but when I tested the door handle to check, it would open. The (non) issue has been solved by me walking further away from the car - now it locks and stays locked. The key must have a proximity distance activation system. Or something. Good luck with yours.
  19. This is my first Audi and I got it 011225 so not had it long. I did do a lot of research with AI then checked it again myself and it suggested an Audi Avant. Price and milage got me this - what I like is the lack of noise (compared to my Tig) and the smooth acceleration where 70mph seems effortless. My wife likes the heated seats and boot size. It’s lower than the Tig so I have to sort of fold myself. So far I am really pleased with it.
  20. Drive off the Eurotunnel and take the A16 east (last stop Vladivostok). Be aware of the variable speed limits along the A16, which also change in the rain. The limit is 130klm which is 80mph. French drivers have a tendency to (hopefully) indicate left then immediately pull out into your braking distance, so just be alert to this. It will take about 1.5 hours from Calais to Ghent mostly just on this motorway - mostly 2 lanes but less traffic than the UK. Park in Ghent as per the photo - it’s outside the emissions zone in an underground car park with music and green lights to indicate empty spaces. The centre of Ghent is about a 20 minute walk - turn left as you come out of the car park stairs. Not many cars in Ghent, a few electric ones but mostly bikes so be aware crossing the road and trams. Easily do-able for a day trip. The castle is well worth a visit and the 40 min river cruise.
  21. Hi everyone, I am the now the gleeful owner of a 2019 A4 Avant - had it a week. However, I’m posting here to show you my model scrapyard diorama in which there are 200+ cars from films and TV, including the Audi from ‘I, Robot’. I show this set up at the Laughton Show in Sussex and will be doing a James Bond special version at the Amberley Museum 24 May 2026.
  22. Yes, I’ve visited there and most WW2 places within an hour or so of Calais. Recommended.
  23. We often do an ‘Allez to Calais’ day trip from Brighton to Calais via the tunnel, plenty of WW2 German Army sites to explore, plus the Carrefour supermarket for on the way back. Other easily do-able day trip abroad are Boulogne for the market and aquarium, Montrieuil for a walk around the town ramparts and Bruges (watch the film ‘In Bruges’ first). For a weekend, try Ghent. Park outside the emissions zone and you’ll find the historic centre virtually car free. The motor ways in France and Belgium tend to be much less busy and in most places have a higher speed limit than the UK. I’m planning a road trip to Berlin October 2026 and when I (eventually) retire, Pompeii and down to the ‘toe’ of Italy.
