  1. Mine was similar. Drive to a petrol station and the car would turn over like the battery was flat. Turn the ignition off and try again and maybe 2 or three time later it would fire up like normal. It was a corroded earth. I put an earth between the earth point where you jump start the car and the engine manifold and it’s been fine ever since. Audi said it’s quite common but people think it’s the starter so when Audi replace the starter they clean the earths at the same time it’s in the to do list issued by Audi uk. There’s a thread on the next page with the heading “poor start”. Have a look lower down. This site won’t let me post pictures because of a upload limit unfortunately so can’t show you mine

  2. I have the same wheels on my q7. Audi only did these wheels in a 21” wheel on Q7’s so are definitely replicas. The place I got my Q7 from ordered these wheels from a place In Bradford when I bought it. I can ring them tomorrow and ask the name of the place and number if you like, or if you want to ring them I’m sure they will be helpful and let you know. If you check out their website most of there Q7’s have them on. They ordered mine in because it had anthracite colured ones on and I didn’t like them so wanted silver.

Let me know if you want me to ring them

  3. If it’s all the time and not noticeably worse in a morning then I’m more inclined to think it’s an earth or starter problem. Try a jump lead from the earth point on the passenger bulk head onto the engine somewhere and see if that cures it. If it does it’s a bad earth.

  4. Try connecting a wire from the earth point under the bonnet on the passenger side used for jump starting the car to the engine manifold and see if it starts better. The earth on the starter motor corrodes over time and makes the battery appear flat. Is it slow to start in the morning after being left over night or all the time i.e like if you drive to a petrol station and turn the car off for a few minutes

  5. You can enable the green menu on any version of software. Mine was on 4420 when I enabled it. I bought the update discs and upgraded mine to 5570 because the Bluetooth would take a long time to connect to my phone and there was a fix for this in the upgrade. But to be fair the battery level indicator isn’t that accurate and I only enabled it to help diagnose a slow start problem

  6. The update doesn’t put the battery level onto the mmi. To do this you need to enable the hidden green screen menu on the mmi using vcds/vagcom then you enable it in there. Depending how old the car is it might of been enabled by a previous owner, try pressing and holding the bottom 2 buttons on the left hand side of the centre console for about 5 seconds (car and setup) and see if the green screen comes on. What fault is yours doing that your hoping to fix?

    What

  7. My car is due a service but aren’t taking it to Audi as it’s at an age and mileage now where I’m not that bothered about a full Audi service history so will take it to an independent. But I’m not sure what oil they will put in it quality wise so was thinking of buying my own. Mobil one esp 5w-30 is coming up as available for my car but has anybody had any experience with oil for Q7’s or recommend any?

  8. Earlier last week the drivers side wiper stopped working. Traced it down to the wiper linkage becoming disattached. Popped it back together but after a few wipes it came back off again. It’s a ball and cup socket just under the plastic flap on the drivers side under the bonnet. Spoke to Audi who don’t sell the plastic cup socket or the arm separately wanted £354+vat for an entire linkage 😳. Found on amazon some spring repair clips for £5.99 that that didn’t list that they fitted an Audi but thought I could fudge them to do the job. Turns out they fitted without any modification but did need persuading with a pair of grips and work perfectly again. Hope this helps if anybody has a this problem as the Audi guy says it’s common that’s why they keep the linkage in stock.

Forgot to mention I messaged every place breaking a Q7 on eBay etc with no luck but as a temp fix you can wrap a layer of pvc insulation tape around the metal ball of the wiper arm and squeeze back together. Works for a day or two

  9. I’ve got 22” rs6 style wheels on mine and drives fine. Had 22” rs4 style on my last one with Pirelli tyres and it ate them in around 8000 miles. I got some decent looking budget tyres on these wheels which have done 9000 and are about half way through their life. Other than it being a bit louder on the road only noticeable on the motorway really they have been fine

  10. Does the radio/mmi still work or is the entire electrical system dead? I think if the key was faulty the ignition lights would still come on but the immobiliser would stop the car starting

  11. I changed the battery on my current and previous Q7 and only coded this one in because it was acting sluggish to turn over everyone and then. But that turned out to be an engine earth. The last one was fine without coding in and have been told that the coding only has relevance for the power management control which turns the radio off etc if the cars not running if it thinks it will drain the battery past the not starting point. If you are getting it coded it takes 2 minutes if they know what they are doing but ask them to enable the green screen on the mmi at the same time as this will allow you to enter the hidden menu and allow importing of cds into the jukebox.

  12. Sorry been busy and not got around to checking until now. The power and earth run from the drivers side fuse box behind the dashboard through the transmission tunnel under the Gear selector to the side of seat runner. Then up behind the seat liner (the plastic seat backs are held on with clips so are quite easy to come off)  and the wires run up the headrest tube so nothing is seen. The wires that link the dvds run the same way and run into the transmission tunnel behind the rear heating vents. None of the trim or plastics have been cut in anyway and there are no visible wires showing. Sorry I can’t post anymore pictures on here anymore.

  13. I’m don’t think it is as the power is cut when the ignition is off. I think it is ran from the fuse box on the drivers side and runs behind the dash and down the centre console. The leather gaitor on the Gear selector comes off to reveal a space to run a cable. If I get chance tonight I’ll have a look and see how they connected them

  14. Hi Foz I have after market DVD players in both front seat headrests. They come with wireless headphones and can play individually or the same film on both and play the sound through the radio. They were about £200 to buy and was going to fit them myself but the company I got them off only wanted £50 To fit them. We went to look at a few Q7’s at a place in Oldham called S Cars and all there cars had them in so my wife asked if we bought a car else where would they fit them in it. They were really helpful and gave us the number of the place in Oldham that fits them for them. If you look on eBay at some of there Q7’s you can see what they look like. They come with a zip on cover so can be covered over to just look like the original head rest.
