  1. The flywheel has been rattling which I’ve known for a while and needs changing. Other than that it did start being sluggish pulling off more than normal which seems to be better now. Kind of just happened out of the blue.
  2. Sent it to ECU testing. They charge £250+ vat if it’s repairable or a £50 fee if they can’t. Car was worth £500 in its current state so didn’t have much to lose!
  3. I have now sorted to car. After being told it was going to cost thousands and that I need a new gear box, it was just the mechatronic unit. I removed this myself, sent it to be repaired for £250+ VAT and then refitted myself. Also replaced gearbox oil and filter myself at the cost of £60. This solved the problem and 3 weeks later still going strong! Just goes to show garages just tell you any old ********
  4. So yesterday my Audi A3 2.0 tdi SLine dsg 2006 auto decided to play up. The gears started being funny and wouldn’t auto shift up as it usually should. Today it had been looked at by my local garage who has basically said there is an issue somewhere with the gearbox but it’s not worth spending any money on. As far as I’m aware this car is worth 3500-4k so I’m willing to chuck £1k at it. Surely something can be done with this? Has anyone had any experience with having a new gearbox fitted or had the existing one removed and fixed? Any advice would be great.
  5. I have just finished removing the old drive shaft and fitting the new one.. wasnt actually too bad - a little fiddly but okay. Took me 3 hours but a lot of that was hunting for correct tools!! pleased to say the shuddering has now gone! I'm so relieved! The inside cv joint was absolutely shagged! Thanks everyone for your help!

  7. Okay thanks for the reply. Do you know what I need to undo the 6 bolts that attaches the cv joint to driveshaft? Want to make sure I have the right bit for this evening
  8. So I have an Audi A3 2.0 tdi s line 2006 which needs a new drive shaft and cv joints fitted. This looks within my capabilitys. Is is there any special tools I need to do this? Can someone list what I may need? Thanks
  9. Okay so I changed all wheels and no different. I called out the RAC under my breakdown cover as I'm fed up! I was told by him he is certain it's the passenger side front drive shaft that has failed. On the report it says 'passenger side drive shaft/c.v c/h/f' What does 'c/h/f' stand for? Can someone help me find the right part I need to buy as I can get it a lot cheaper and know a mechanic who will fit it for me. Thanks
  10. I've had it jacked up, no movement from what I can tell. I've had 3 bushes changed when a took it to a garage to find the problem. I'm not 100% sure what it is I'm looking at in some places so I'll take some photos and post them on here this evening when I get chance to look at it again. After re balancing the rear wheels it helped to stop the shudder a little but it's still there.
  11. Okay thanks for letting me know. It did say the rear anti roll bar was heavily corroded. Perhaps this could cause it?
  12. Okay let's hope not! What exactly is the 'drive train'? I think the fly wheel is a little dodgy as it knocks every now and then. Gearbox seems flawless though. There is also I slight delay when I accelerate from stand still if that helps!! Takes a second for the car to react to me accelerating.
  13. I've had both rear wheels off today and completely cleaned them and re balanced them all. They were fairly out of balance and had a lot of old weights on. All balanced and back on and the shudder is still there. Tyres are all 4 months old, all look fine to me..
  14. Engine mounts have been checked - all fine! And I'd say it's no different than if it was in a straight line!
  15. Okay thanks for that I will give it a go later when I get back from work!
  16. Hello guys, I have an Audi A3 2.0 tdi s line auto dsg 2006. When I accelerate there is a really horrible shudder in the seat. It is from the moment I accelerate at any speed until I get up to about 60mph at which it then still shudders but not as bad. It feels as though I'm sat on one of those weight loss vibration machines!!! It does not do it if I am driving along and let my foot off the accelerator, only when I put my foot down! I'm starting to lose my mind with it now. I've had countless bushes changed, and just had a wheel bearing done yesterday which was really damaged - still no better off. Can someone please help shed some light on this? Could it be a bad wheel? It wasn't like it when I first bought the car and I can't seem to think of what has caused it to happen now. I haven't hit a kurb or anything! i just want it to stop!!!! :(
  17. So I've had another good look this weekend and I still seem to be no further! I can't get to what I believe is the turbo as it is right at the back under the engine. Think its a trip to the garage! 😔
  18. Thanks for the reply. I will have a look at the breather pipe going to the turbo later then in that case to see if it is okay. My brother plugged it into his fault code machine and it came up with no codes! How would I distinguish the breather pipe to any of the other pipes? I believe the turbo is in behind the engine and it is very hard to get in behind to see it. (Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?). Cheers
  19. Hello. I have an Audi A3 2.0 tdi s line 2006 plate. When I accelerate the car makes a loud whistle sound exactly like a siren from a police car. I have taken it to a few garages local to me and they have said different things. When i disconnect the plate of 6 or so small pipes going into the vacuum solenoid box and accelerate slightly there is no siren sound at all. Does this help narrow down the problem? There is is no loss of power, no limp mode just a little bit more sluggish to pull out of a junction than it used to be. I am am adamant the turbo is okay and it isn't the bindings. I had a major service done from Audi main dealer and with the health check they mentioned a boost pipe clip was broken. Can some help me as to where I should start at finding the problem? I can't seem to find a broken boost pipe clip or see any leak! Thanks
