  1. Hi guys! I'm new to this forum. Just bought an Audi A4 s line tfsi 1.8. It's the most confusing car for aftermarket audio I have ever come across. It has MMI, the single din front concert 10 speaker active system with amplifier in the boot on passengers side. I'm finding that others are getting confused as to what actual car it is. As it has basically got the black edition styling. With 19" 5 cross stroke diamond cut alloys. The top Bose amplified system. Dual heater add on, blacked out back Windows and the MMI system. To someone else the audio may sound pretty good. To me it's not all that. Bad highs, no sub bass. Midrange ok. But has built in controls that dumb down some speakers when volume is turned up (to stop people from blowing the speakers apparently). Basically, I want my 12" active sub box in the boot and later on my components, which are also in MDF BOXES. What people are telling me is this- if you have MMI, basically you've had it. Put in aftermarket HU I loose it all. So got to thinking and started looking at line level converters or LOCs to run either off speaker wires going in to amp or a hi to low unit and catch them on the output of amp (approx 20w rms) in to my active sub box in the boot. Some say I need a top range like the JL Audio (pic 1) yet other peeps say no for just your sub this should do it, (pic 2). Difference between the two in price is roughly £250 or $320. I know the JL Audio does a hell of a lot, but it's so complex I've been told to have done by pro's. Yet the other I'm quite confident that I can do it. The picture 2 is a RCA output of 2. They do a 4 RCA output version for £30 more. But some pro's are saying the cheaper ones can cause problems with the MMI system. Is this true? Can anyone help me out with my problem? Or are having similar issues? I just want a nice sound in my car. You would think a 10 speaker amplified system by Bose would sound great. Trust me, it's just ok ish at best. Thanks for reading my novel lol Dizzyone
