I'll will give the 5w40 a try, and yes, a quick Google search shows that this engines are abit oil thirsty... Thanks for the help Gareth!

I do the oil change by myself, and I use Castrol Edge 5w-30, no blue smoke and no oiliness on exhaust, and between the 10k miles that I done since owning the car it always was like this... Never check the crankcase breathing system to be honest but I will!

I been using 5w-30 full synthetic, which is recommended for my engine, just wondering if a thicker oil would make her less thirsty...

Hi, I have an Audi a4 b6 2.0 petrol 130k and she's been using some oil, 1l every 1200 miles... I don't mind doing some top ups between services but I was wondering if I could use a thicker oil... If so what do you recommend? Thanks!
