Thank you very much for your comment, Gareth. I've never had any experience with private plates before so your insight is very much appreciated. I did request a valuation from a couple of specialist services and both valued it at £700-800 (what I would get in case of sale after their commission is taken). The car has been in constant use (judging by its MOT history) so had been continuously taxed I believe and has a current MOT. As to why the previous owner didn't retain the plate for themselves - it's anyone's guess I suppose. Also, thank you for sharing your experience that it may take a long time to sell - this is something I obviously need to take into account. Kind regards, Rafael

Audi A3 How can I remove part of the dashboard?
enc replied to Bob1954's topic in New Members Introductions
Slightly miffed my question was deemed “criticism” and was not considered “worth commenting on” i was genuinely interested in the purpose of the switch as it maybe have been something I could incorporate into my own A3 dashboard. Never mind , I’ll move on -
Welcome Rafael, and thanks for posting your question. If we translate desirability into value, the route to that would be via getting a valuation from specialists such as Registration Transfers - there are many more. They will value it on a ‘Return to you’ basis and do all the advertising for you. My experience is that these can take an age to sell - if ever- but it’s well worth a try. One question worth asking yourself is :- If it were so desirable, why didn’t the previous owner retain it to reap more funds from the sale? As I understand it, the donor Golf would have to have a current MOT, and I believe ( but please check) will have to have been continuously taxed for the past 5? years. Please let us know what you find out Rafael. Kind regards, Gareth.

OxM started following S5 UGR private plate - how desirable?
-
Just bought an old Golf with S5UGR private plate and trying to understand how desirable this might be to some S5 owners if I decide to sell it? Might read it as "S5 SUGAR" I suppose so some might find it attractive? Any advice greatly appreciated.

The Verb started following DSG Dual Clutch DQ200 Fault
-
Hello All I'm After some advice or what experience people have had with the dry dual clutch please. Done a service on our 19 plate A3 1.5 TFSI with 84000 on the clock and as a routine I look at faults using VCDS. Clutch pack 1 has come up as out of tolerance. It did flag up in August last year at 79000 miles. The latest fault is recent as I checked in April and it was not there. Car does judder intermittently in reverse, low gears and more so when hot. I was going to change the gearbox and mechatronics oil to see if it made a difference but stopped when I saw the fault again (I am aware this is filled for life but oil on the whole does not last indefinitely). On the whole car drives lovely and gear changes are hardly noticeable, except for the intermittent judder. Not wanting to be faced with a complete failure I can either change the clutch pack now (£2000 plus) or run with it for a while until the fault comes back and judder gets worse. Anyone had experience on this and outside of what I have had, any other warnings of impending failure? Thanks in advance

the veh had a v5 when i purchased it and it all got sent off i just stupidly didnt know what to look out for on the v5 before buying. info on my v5 is very basic compared to my other car, is missing the euro status, emmisions dets and i dont have any copies of the import paperwork as i was informed it had all been sent of to DVLA to register the car. lesson learned to research what sort of paperwork to expect to have if i ever buy and import again. I dont mind the leg work to sort it, its a learning curve, but it is somewhat frustrating that its not been sorted by the garage prior and im having to correct bits. Im a tad annoyed at VW here not being able to guide me a bit better of contacting their Japanese counterparts however as this wont be the first time this sort of thing has been asked of them so why cant they assist in providing an email address for Japan to get the details??? too difficult box maybe....
-
Hi hi, so i have had VW get back to me already, they are saying thy cant help me as its not a europe veh but an import...despite me saying that from the off set and i need to contact VW in Japan for the import paperwork... you go to their website- all in english- follow to the enquire form and then its all in Japanese and no way to translate so ive got no !Removed! clue where to go from here. essentially i just need to obtain paperwork from someone on what euro bracket it sits in for this to all get sorted but DVLA/ DVSA only accept paperwork from the import company. (you would havethought this would have all been supplied hen the veh was imported and an IVA done????) im tempted ot look at jst paying for an IVA to make it easier but i then argue in my head as to why i should be doing all this when it should have been done already!! !Removed! frustrating and feel like im going in circles a tad. sorry rant over.

1.4 tfsi Clutch high and occasional squeal
cliffcoggin replied to Redred's topic in Audi A4 (B9) Forum
It's not normal on any car. Your clutch is defective. -
Absolute gentleman but the offer remains open. Small update. I managed to get the low pressure warning to come up again, but only after lifting the bonnet again to change a bulb, which resets the oil level on the mmi, and after closing the bonnet, the oil level came up about 4-5 bars higher than where it was previously, registering almost full. I know the oil level should be at 2 bars above minimum on the mmi, as I put 4.5 litres in on a service 1300 miles ago and I have a small leak somewhere on the left side of the engine. Whilst it was like this I could trigger the warning easily by driving spirited at high rpm then idling. After about 30 minutes driving the oil level suddenly returned to where it should be. It will not throw the error again now the level has read correctly. So now I'm even more confused!

2023 A3 Sportback TFSI 35 S-Line Road Noise
cliffcoggin replied to NMB123's topic in Audi A3 (8Y) Forum
It's always the tyres. A harsh ride and excess noise is the price you pay for for the better handing of low profile tyres. -
Were the replies of any use to you Michael?

Nigel, I’m not attempting to find answers, simply because I (and possibly other forum members) did not know the precise reason for the question. Is it somewhat purist to ascertain whether a later variant ( if the same fit) of beige is the same shade as what may have been fitted to your model - but of course wasn’t, since yours was fitted with black carpet? Still rather confusing, but….

Gareth, its a good answer , but sadly my needs are different. I'm trying to find out if the newer carpets in this car are the same colour as the priginal

MMI- wireless connection to Android auto :(
asics replied to Loyalbear1872's topic in Audi A3 (8Y) Forum
Just back from a holiday (vacation for some) and had a SEAT Arona. The infotainment felt and looked very Audi MMI. Anyway, my Android phone connected quickly and reliably to the head unit every time - from cold and warm start. So it seems to me that any connectivity issues are on the Audi side. What are other seeing? Any updates available? -

Juuso started following Audi 80. Alarm problems
-
Hello. I have an Audi 80 from 1994. I believe the model is b4 8C2. Its a 2.0l gasoline automatic. I have been trying to figure out the problem in it for a while now. Firstly it only used to unlock all the doors from the trunk and if you used other doors it would set off the alarm, until one day when the boot also did the same. Ever since it has no working central locking and does not shut off the alarm and immobilizer. The pump for the central locking has been changed and fully cut wires from the boot have been fixed. I have tried to find the immobilizer but have not yet found it. Also i have followed the wires for the pump but they seem to be fine. Neither pump seems to be running but the wiring does have voltage coming in. I have checked all the fuzes in the fuze box and tested varieties of fuses according to different diagrams. Thank you.

Johnnym started following A5 Parking ?
-
Hi guys Wonder if you have any suggestions., I have a 20 foot X 10 parking area with 2 paving stone runways to the side of my home great But to this side is a BIG SILVER BIRCH tree with a Conservation order on it. It is dripping lots of sap on the A5 CVT and the tree can't be altered. In front of my home leading to a garage is another drive maybe 15 feet I went to park the A5 but as I pull on the the drive before I get to the garage door the rear wheels on on the road level at the Dropped Curb, Front wheels are on the drive So the A5 thinks its on a hill and won't just Creep. At that point I am maybe 2 -3 feet off the Garage door. I start to to try a bit right pedal but i feel nerrvious i am just going to go into the garage door a BIT FAST rather than creep. Can i fiddle on the Brake button its a bit of a pain yet. I have parked normal Auro car on this drive but they did not know the were on a hill. Any ideas is it just right foot action ? Johnnym

What was the outcome ? as i stated above , it has been fine for over 12 months but ive noticed the (very) occasional creak since the hotter weather what did they replace & did they say what was causing the noise? They changed the parts i supplied above...under my self diagnosis of the issue.

Audi A3 How can I remove part of the dashboard?
Magnet replied to Bob1954's topic in New Members Introductions
But I will respond Bob. I take your comments on board, and in my book, it’s very, very rare the anyone’s background or abilities to be enquired about, or indeed needed to be qualified in any way. In your case, I’m left unsure as to why your competence led you to enquire in the first place, and it’s equally confusing to see what has been said that represents a personal criticism, but if your logic points it to be, then so be it, in your mind. Good luck with it. Regards, Gareth. I -
Hello Nigel, What would be your route to acquiring a beige carpet for the car, if you could find a colour code? Finding a carpet in useable condition for a 30 year old car would be a bit of an ask - in my opinion. Getting one made and moulded would likely cost 2 arms and 2 legs. Alternative:-why not fit tailored beige overmats over your black carpet? You should find plenty of sellers on EBay offering variations on carpet quality and edge sewing choices. Please let us know what you think Nigel. Kind regards, Gareth.
